Newbie hopin' for feedback on proposed mod's

Hi All,

I've been following this forum ever since picking up my 2007 Limited in November (moving to Broomfield, CO next month), and all I can say is, "Well I hope you're happy!"; the amazing pic's and mutual admiration have pushed me over the edge: time for some mod's. I've tried to pay close attention, and here's where I'm thinkin' of going, but I'm hoping some of you will set me straight if I've strayed somewhere along the way:

WeatherTech Floor Liners - got 'em
ToyTec 3" BL kit w/front spacers & rear coils - need 'em
Spidertrax Wheel Spacers - need 'em
Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac ~33"s - need 'em
PIAA Driving/Fog Lights - need 'em
Yakima Racks - need 'em
Trail Gear Rock Sliders - need 'em
Defiant Light Bar - need it

Here's what's been keeping me up at night:
I'm in love with the look of the Wrangler DuraTracs and, near as I can tell from the reviews, they'll do me proud in the Colorado winters. What I could use some help with is determining - given the setup above plus the front wheel-well liner adjustment and minor fender trimming I've seen done here - what 33"ish tires would fit best? How would two 33"ish tires with different "aspect ratios" differ performance-wise?

What size rims do you have?

Thanks, I've got the hyper silver OEM alloy wheels (18 X 7.5, 6 SPOKE) right now, but I'm thinking I'll try to sell them and go with something else. I like the look of the Mickey Thompson Classic IIs (Mickey Thompson Performance Tires & Wheels), but their very own website said those wheels should be removed to protect them against winter road salt. That doesn't exactly jibe with Colorado living. Which begs my next question. What's the best wheel "material" for winter conditions? Hmmmm?

You might want to go with a 17" rim if your going with the Duratracs. I think there are only three or four size for 18" rims.

even with trimming, you may still rub the upper control arms & might also need a body mount trim.

I have a Cornfed 3/2 lift on mine and I am running 33x12.50R20; I had to cut the body mount, bumper and fender. They do fit though, make sure you get the right wheel spacers though or offset and backspacing if you go with aftermarket wheels. If you get this right you will not have to worry about rubbing the control arms.

The best wheel "material" would probably be any powder coated wheel. Also, I was living in Steamboat Springs for a year and ran BFG All Terrains and they were awesome on the ice and I know people that have gotten 100k miles out of them. Just throwing that out there for a possibility.

Also something I really liked was putting yellow PIAA replacement bulbs in the fog lights but some people don't like that look. But I put some PIAA driving lights behind the bottom grill in the bumper and they looked good too. Take a look at the Shrockworks rock sliders also, have a good one.

Thanks much, Chaz. Saw you had the ToyTec adj. coilovers w/ Bilstein 5100 rear shocks. I've been debating whether or not to "step up" from the 3" kit w/front spacers & rear coils. Is the difference in on/off ride worth the extra $? Sounds like you've got a really nice ride!

Autbond: Holy Freaking Cow! Love the pic's of your 4Runner in the snow. I checked out the Shrockworks sliders, and I can see why you and Chaz both went that route; I'll be following suite. Also appreciate the comments on wheel choice and light color/placement. Gonna wait until I make the move to Broomfield to get everything done, but I'll definitely be posting pic's! heck yes, theres no comparing spacers to coilovers when it comes to ride & handling, you'ed love the toytec 3 in. ultimate lift. OME is good too, & about 400 less, not adjustable tho. sounds like you have some good plans!
