of the two, I'm liking the '01 better. Lower mileage (provided it's truthful) and no big dents on the front and back. At this age, no radiator replacement is actually a good sign that the milkshake *hasn't* happened yet. Make that your first priority if you buy this one. The amount of rust is reasonable for New Jersey.
Make sure to get a carfax (run it yourself, don't trust the seller), and go to
Toyota Owners Official Web Site: Service Coupons, Owner's Manuals, Service Scheduling And More, create a profile and enter the vin as if it were your own vehicle. Any service records that Toyota has on file will show up there. Confirm that timing belt has been done. If it hasn't, make the seller lower his price accordingly cause it's way overdue and you'll want to get it done the first week you own it.
Lastly, if you're pretty sure you want this one, take the vehicle to a good mechanic and have him/her look over it to make sure there's nothing seriously wrong with it. Trust me, it's worth the trouble. I walked from two deals because of the mechanic's inspection and I'm glad I did. Third one checked out and I'm very happy with the purchase.
Also, expect that the valve cover gaskets will be leaking. At this age, it's abnormal for it not to be happening unless it was recently fixed. That said, the mechanic will probably find that among other things, and you can use it as leverage for a lower price. The asking price is pretty reasonable though, unless there's something the seller is covering up.
