Newbie seeking advice on '88 runner 22re rebuild.

Hello all...

My dad has an '88 4Runner, 22RE 5spd. He is wanting to find a reputable shop in Texas, preferably within 200 miles of Dallas, to rebuild the engine, and add a few mods to increase power.

So, two questions:

Can someone reccomend a good shop in TX, preferably one that specializes in Toys?

What light mods should he be considering? Right now, he is looking at a header+exhaust, and a high-flow intake, either Airaid or K&N. Maybe a throttle-body spacer?

The runner currently has 250K, sees light trail duty+daily driver. He's running 31x10 BFG AT's. Trans was rebuilt 2 months ago, and a centerforce clutch installed. He's not wanting any radical mods, just some basic bolt-on stuff.

They have writups on everything imaginable Toyota over there, you just have to look around and not be nervous..

As for light performance, you can check www.performanceproducts.com
and Downey has a website too, I linked someone to it the other day.

As for rebuilder in Texas I don't know. But LC Engineering has a reputation as the best Toyota engine builder in the country. They have tons of performance parts for the 22re too, from wild cams to lightened flywheels, do a search on the web, they will come up with a website too.
