Oh yeah, another good 4runner site you might want to check out is yotatech.com
Its more for the offroad enthuiast though, but lots of good info too.

I'm curious where are you getting your truck? I'm planning on buying a new runner soon too! V6 LTD.

I will get it at Automall, Richmond, because it's close to my workplace. It is fixed price anyway... so doesn't really matter.

I am still considering about V6 or V8... as V6 has a better gas consuming. However, I am worrying about the V6 2WD/4WD selection function, which may additional failure of mechanical parts, because of the connect/disconnect.

Too bad in Canada, we don't have V6 full-time 4WD. Anyway, most ppl on the street has V8... from my obervation.

The V6 in 4wd Hi is full time 4wd. Its the same as the V8 4WD, you just have the option of using 2wd. In 2wd you save gas and do cool drift manuevers.:arrow:

In my third gen, I've had no problems with 4wd related parts and I am one the few who actually uses it. You shouldn't have to worry it. Besides, the money you save in Gas now and in the future would by far outweigh any cost of parts/maintenace of the truck should any thing go wrong. This won't happen unless you jump the truck off a cliff.

Someone just said, running V6 with 4WD has the same gas consuming of V8 full-time 4WD....

Actually I calculated, the difference gas consuming of V6 and V8 is about 1L / 100KM. So end up, I may spend about $200-300 per year. That's still affordable.

I've driven both. I have an 05 V6 and I can safely say that the difference is not really noticable onroad. When you are towing, that's a different story. V8 power is great if you need it. But search the forum..this debate has been beat to death and the verdict is that the V8 is only .0 something of a difference faster than a V6 in the quarter mile. Plus the V6 2Hi mode handles a lot better than the fulltime V8 model. With gas prices on the rise again, I would cater to what you "need" based on your budget. V8's are a dying breed. It's all about the supercharge/turbocharged V6's.
