Well thanks everyone. Picked it up Friday night. The Runner is very nice so far just need to do some maintaince stuff to it like brakes and flush the transfer case and dif. Hope to be around for a while a learn somethings from here.

It also looks like there is no chrome trim around the fenders so if, (or when), you decided to take off the running boards, you won't have to deal with trim that only covers about 3/4ths of the fender. I'm speaking from experience here. ;):
 
OK, since I'm a newbie gotta some stupid questions about the Gen 3.

1) How many quarts of oil does this thing take? I plan on doing some maintenance stuff on it this weekend. What oil to use?
2) What and where can I get a good repair manual?
3) I want a front grill bar like the Westin Bull bar but they don't make one for are model. The closest thing to it is made by Jaos and that is $$$$. Does anyone else make one similar to that bar?

Welcome to the site. As far as oil capacity, it should hold around 5.5 quarts. You can use regular or synthetic. I run Mobile 1 5w30 and change around every 3-5k miles. Or you can use regular old "dino" oil, the choice is up to you. As for a good repair manual you can get a Haynes or Chilton in most auto part stores. If you want to spend more money you can go for a factory Toyota manual but be prepaired to spend around $80.00 give or take. The grill guard I' m not to familiar with. Maybe someone else here can add their .02 on the issue.

I'm not sure if I'm "allowed" to post another 4Runner site here, but you may want to check out www.yotatech.com. It's primarily geared towards 3rd gen 4Runners and Tacomas. Lots of information there on all kinds of goodies.
 
You will find it a bit of a pain to change the oil. The manual says 5.4 quats, but sometimes you can get close to 6 quarts. I usually put in 5 1/2 quarts and check it and add a bit if needed. I tend to make it a bit less than full and it will raise slightly when warm. For oil I recommend Mobil 1 5 w 30 for synthetic, it is a good price for a PAO base and is easy to find. For regular oil I recommend Castrol GTX 5 w 30. These are the 2 oils I use in my vehicles, Mobil 1 in the Toyota and Castrol GTX in my older car.
 
bull bar

Good luck trying to find a "westin" like bull bar. I bought one after the shop told me it would fit only to find they do not make the brackets for the '02. I have searched high and low for something similar with no luck. If you find one, let me know. The other thing I was thinking of doing was to get a modular brush guard and remove the headlight covers. Welcome, nice truck.
