WOW, 28 views and no replies, I am amazed that nobody has any suggestions.. I am member of other forums because of my other car, and normally we greet the newbies, and help them with any questions that they have. As I said previously, I in the process of purchasing a used 4runner, and I looking at the 2000 models. Again as I previously asked, if anybody has any recommendations as to what to look for in a used 4runner. Thank You.

Welcome! My advice is to TAKE YOUR TIME picking one out. Look over each one with a fine tooth comb (look at the undercarriage for rust, ask for a carfax, if all recalls were taken care of blah blah blah). Miles on the engine is something to be concerned about but remember that an engine with 160,000 miles on it can run just as well as a 30,000 mile engine just as long as it was taken care of.

Thats a tough one. It kinda depends on what you want. I originally wanted a 1998-2000 5speed. My feeling is that the 98-00 models are a little more "rugged", they're a truck, made to offroad, and the 01-02 is more geared toward the daily driver and more around town use with the same capabilities for offroading of course. The differences aren't drastic, but its enough to research to really figure out what you want. If I could do it all over again, I'd maybe buy a 99-00 5speed. But I do REALLY love my 01.
Thank You Very Much Again. I am only going to use from home to work, and pickup merchandise for my business, not thinking of off roading for now. I had a 2009 corolla which unfortunately totaled it las week. So I want to buy a 4runner for the business, and use it around the city. This would be my work horse. My other vehicle is a 2006 Lancer Evolution IX, supped up.

Those v8s get terrible glass mileage, they run very strong, but if it is the 4wd limited model(4wd all the time) get used to getting about 14 around town. Look for a 2000-02 with low miles and it will last you a long time, I prefer the sr5 sport for the scoop and so they are not 2 toned.. The 2004 models do have a nice interior and are more of daily drivers. You might want to test drive a few beforehand

and a little advice, don't get pissy when you don't get a reply in just a few hours. maybe the first 28 people to view your post own first or second gen t4r's and had nothing to add. as for not welcoming you to the forum, that is their problem. i will say this as well, the majority of the users on this forum are a good bunch of guys/gals and can be a very helpful and heartfelt group. As for your question, I own a 95 so my opinions are based solely on what i have heard/ read. I really agree with Tahoe, decide what you want to get out of your runner, do your research, and base your purchase choice off of that. :cheers:
