NFab Predator Pro sliders/steps - Toyota OEM?

So I was at the dealer this week (SE Toyota dealer) getting something looked at under warranty. Noticed the 2018 TRD Offroad/Premium models had some nice step bars on them. Sticker said predator pro step bar, usually with the XP blackout package. Didn't put 2 and 2 together until today when looking around at options for my LE and landed on NFab's page. Probably the nicest looking NFab slider/step I've seen! Can get them as a genuine OEM accessory - I'm wondering if they are the same? Price is roughly the same for NFab and Toyota version.

I took a pic of the TRD pro Taco that was surprisingly still on the lot and a 4runner TRD O-P. The tiny pic is a stock one I found. That particular dealer pre-sells their 4R TRD pros but the Tacoma somehow doesn't.

Either way I think I'm gonna have to do the TE rocker conversion for more reasons than 1. :thumb3:

Really don't get why people are so gaga about N-Fab style running boards. They kill your break over angles off road, offer zero protection, have marginal stepping surfaces over the OEM running boards. :ybrick:

I think they're gaga because the steps play a visual trick on the eye.

The stock running boards make the truck appear like it has reduced ground clearance, and slab sides (Reason so many took them off of 3rd gens).

The steps here actually have all the same physical drawbacks described as running boards.. but they just LOOK invisible to the naked eye almost lol.

Im personally not a fan of this style. If its solely going to be used as a step to get in and you are not planning on using it as a slider then sure. But if anyone plans on using it as a slider, its just going to get caught on some rocks causing more problems.

Just so you know these are not sliders and will get destroyed if you try to use them that way.

Yeah I thought they looked cool and the 4Runner I bought had them installed already. Then I started doing about 20 mins of off-roading prep research and realized they would reduce ground clearance for sure.

Different strokes for different folks. I personally love mine. They offer great foothold stability and are wonderful for cleaning off the roof (snow), putting my kayaks on their mounts, and washing the car. They reduce my clearance by a few inches, but I am not rock crawling. Plus, my ground clearance is excellent. Again it really depends on what you do. :bigok:

I think my OEM style are coming off soon...they have been great for the 4 and 6 year old to climb in, but they are a hazard OR...and I'll be getting 40lbs or so off the rig ...Targeting some of those webbed-like sliders to handle the steps in the future...

Of course, roof access is a plus of those things...I'll miss that prior to sliders

I'm definitely not gaga over the Nfab stuff (just gaga over that blue taco!), but it's at least better than the blah generic running boards that most trucks and SUVs come with. I just thought these looked new/better than the older nfab steps, but definitely wonder why SE Toyota dealers put them on trucks that are likely to be used and abused off-road.

I'm likely aiming for the OPOR slide/steps. Just enough to help get into lifted 4R without sticking out, and protects a heck of a lot more than these would.

I guess I'm the only one not into rock crawling, but more off-road use to get to some campsites and fun areas. I don't need rock sliders, but do need a side step to access the roof rack. The nerf style visually looks better than the stock plain running boards, and while I'm tall enough to get in/out without needing assistance to get inside, not everyone is over 6 feet tall. Bunch of judgmental grumps on here, Jesus Christ. You all don't want your nerf style side steps, send them my way.

I like mine. Nicer looking than the Toyota Predator tube steps and w/ better clearance. My off roading is more baja based and not rock crawling. Solid product, great for easy reach of the roof and great looks.
And if they start rusting, you unbolt and toss them. Why would Toyota warranty anything in this case? They wouldn't warranty an off road bumper or sliders either.

My wife is a little on the short side, so she complained the first time she tried to climb in....they were a quick, cheap decision--no complaints from my wife or my 80 year old mom--she thought they were great--and said how she wished she would have gotten a 4runner instead of her Rav-4.

As others have said
-tube STEPS, not sliders
-nothing SE Toyota bolts on is OEM
-the actual Toyota steps are better at being steps
-all of these things will rust far faster than your truck, especially in the south
