Has anyone seen the new 2005 Nissan Pathfinder? Do pathfinders and 4runners retain the same value as they get older?

They both have pretty good resale depend how you look at it but the 4Runners I've seen Limted models 5 years old with 60k going for $20,000.
The Current Pathfinders are selling slow and are priced real good and are a reliable, problem free vehicle.
Fast Forward to current day and if your gonna compair the 05 Pathfinder with the 4th Gen 4Runner I would go with the Toyota cause if the quality of the Nissan is anything like the Armada, Titan or Quest that are being built in that new Canton Mississippi plant where the Pathfinder will come out of I'll wait for the second model year, maybe 3rd

It funny cause I was just reading a thread on the Infiniti QX56 (Nissan Armada, rebadged) and how owners are disappointed about the quality problems that have plagued the new Nissans especially from the Canton plant and that Nissan is sending over 200 specialist to fix the problems and the whole time people kept posting, yeah you should expect 1st year problems with any vehicle except Toyota/Lexus they make them darn near perfect

A co-worker bought a Pathfinder 3 months after I purchased my 4Runner. He told me he 'settled' for the Pathfinder for financial reasons.
The fit and finish of the Pathfinder is lower quality than the 4Runner IMO. I have a buddy that has a 93 Pathfinder and the 2003 seems to almost have the same interior.
I dont think the Nissan is in the same class frankly.

I definitely noticed that though, during my search for my car. I looked at the Pathfinder, the Xterra, the Rav4, basically, any good SUV (Obviously not Ford or Chevy, I said good
) and the priciest ones were 4Runners. But love is love.

As far as quality, I would say Nissan is on the same level as Toyota when it's the powertrain but as a whole the Toyotas have much better materials and the fit and finish and the small details are second to none, I owned Nissans and I doubt I'll be going back anytime soon.
The 4th Gen 4Runner was improved except for the lower ground clearance but the 05 Pathfinder is already lacking in certain areas and for that I'll avoid it.
I do like the Nissan engines, their VQ3.5L V6 has been ranked in the 10 best engines for 10 years or so and their V8 engines are supposedly just as nice: I say give them 5 years to get fully back on track with the revival plan, they where nearly bankrupt in 99

I've owned in the past an 84' 4runner, 90' 4runner, and now a 85' 4runner and a 89 nissan pickup. The Nissan is a good vehicle, BUT - I've always worked on all my vehicles, and it IS the LITTLE THINGS.... Like on the Nissan it only has 89,000miles where as my runner has 193,000 now. And the Nissan has so many more "little things" wrong with it, like a broken heater box, interior seems fragile, broken speedometer head, etc... As far as running gear go, it seems almost as good/if not as good as a Toyota, but everything else on it is kinda cheesy compared to a yota...

Nissan has among the worst resale value, as a brand, out of its japanese counterparts. Toyota has among the best.
I know the 4Runner has extremely high resale... I don't know specifically about the Pathfinder, but if it's anything like the Altima or Maxima, they are worth like half of their original price 2 years after they're bought! (I know because I had one and I used to buy and sell cars for profit)
I also work on my own cars and I will say right now, the Nissan VQ V6 is among the best if not the best V6 made today.
Unfortunately for Nissan the automatic transmissions they usually connect to them are destined for failure usually anywhere from 80 to 150k miles depending on how they were driven. That's not terrible or anything, but this is not the exception, it is and has been par for Nissan's transmission team for years now.
And yes, their interiors are nothing to get excited about. 8-10 years ago they were comparable or better than most other manufacturers (especially domestics), but now they are among the worst. More complaints of squeeks and rattles and general cheapness in Nissan vehicles today than even the previous champion of poorly made interiors, GM. (who is getting much better by the way, except in their trucks/SUVs)

My sister has a 2001 Pathfinder with 80k on the odo.
I replaced the front brake pads last weekend, not a big deal. Driving around, it feels like it has 80k of highway and city driving on it.
However, she just needed a new cat-back exhaust. The original was shot. Granted it snows here, roads get salt. But 3 years, 80k??? We don't live in Maine. The dealer wanted $800 plus $200 labor. A muffler shop did it for $300.
On the other hand, I had a 95 Nissan 200SX with 140k, only needed routine maintainance.
And liked EDGE mentioned, the Titan/Armadas are plagued by quality issues.
Toyotas will have better re-sale.
For the price, I'd get a new Xterra over a Pathfinder. I would never buy the old Xterras with the 3.3, what a dog. But the new Xterras will have a 4 liter VQ series V6.

I was seriously considering a Titan before going with a 4runner. I really wanted a 4x4 quad-cab truck and the Titan was the only one that came close to what I was looking for.
But the quality issues were so many and some of the responses from Nissan were so annoying that I gave up on the truck and went back to Toyota. My previous Tacoma had 220k miles on it before I sold it. It still ran perfect, was listed in the Kelly Blue Book for $2500 (high-end) and I sold it in a day for $2900.
I'll look at the Titan again in a few years, but by that time, the new Tacomas and Tundras will be out, so if Toyota can do it right with those, I'll probably be staying with them.

I've sat in the Pathfinder, I own 2 my 2000 LE actually had better interior materials, the seats had some kind of suede fabric and they rocked compared to my friends 2000 SR5 that almost looked like a base model camry with weak seat covers, he has since upgraded to leather seats in his truck and it really improved the overall look, his truck is now a sleeper Limited:
Now comparing the Pathfinder to the 4Runner I would only compare the 96-04 model Pathfinder to the 96-02 model 4Runner, and in that case I would go with an 01-04 loaded LE Pathfinder cause of the 3.5L V6 that in NA form just out powers the stock 3.4 in the 4Runner, plus the loaded LE Pathfinders are essentially QX4 with Nissan badges, have you seen them if it was not for the V8 4Runner I would be in 1 of those
I like Nissan but they seem to dip in quality and because of that I decided their cars are not worth the hassle and their service writers sucked major butt:arrow: even Infiniti lacks compared to Lexus, they make you pay extra for a fullsize spare, get real:
Maybe my decisions have been swayed but I can't stand fabric seats, they just make certain cars look so cheap
and after owning a Lexus or Toyota their seems to be things wrong with every other make:awais:

New to this board! I've owned Hondas, Nissans and Toyotas (with the exception of one Chrysler mini van which was a disaster! ). Until recently, I would tell you they were all similar, with the Toyotas having a slight edge in quality. Price differences justified me purchasing any of these 3 manufacturers.
I just traded my 02 Xterra in on a "04" 4 Runner (Sport Model). I also had sold my nissan truck and purchased a Tacoma 4x4 extended cab. My Xterra @ 20k miles was beginning to have some quality issues and recalls. The quality and reliabilty isssues have now come to the point that I can justify the exclusive purchase of Toyotas. They are generally higher priced and harder to deal on but worth it! Toyotas from now on!!!

i never really paid attention to the quality of the fabric it was just the color schemes and basically was i was talking about was the dash, it just looked so cheap and not very creative in design. and from what i remembered it was a very hard plastic and i didnt like that

It's been about 2 weeks. Computer got hit by lightening :bonk: I must of posted something that pissed someone off
It just killed the modem, back in service now. I can tell you with the 350Z sitting next to the 4runner, the 4runner feels and looks like it is higher quality. But the Z is prettier Pitbull

The Z has good quality, your just standing to close you have to park the Z about 30 feet back from the 4Runner and then it shines through with the same quality it's all in how you look at it
