Hey guys, I just got a new 4runner and went ahead and bought the navigation from oemvaule.com
I had this steo shop put it in for me, they got the rear camera working but the audio is not working for the navigation or bluetooth..... When you press thebutton for the bluetooth it says on the screen say a command and whenever you put in a destination the navigation doesnt say anything just shows up ont he screen..what do you think can be the problem....Also This navigation has a slight gap on the right and left side..Has anyone found a dash kit or fillers for this as it is driving me crazy?

Sounds like the voice output from the headunit is not going to the amp. The E7009 requires a separate voice output to the amp which your regular JBL system does not have. You will need to run wires from the headunit to the amp. Check out this post on the Sienna forums: http://www.siennaclub.org/forum/index.php?s=&showtopic=11673&view=findpost&p=110050

If you have the gaps, I'm going to guess you had the 6-disc JBL system before you installed the NAV. You can purchase the the silver dash panel for the single-disc players and that will solve the gap problem, but it is quite expensive from the dealer. The part number should be 55405-35420 for 2WD models and 55405-35340 for 4WD models. If you have a 2006+ Sport Edition, the part is different because on 06+ Sports, the silver trim is actually a bit darker.

Hope that helps you out.

Ok thanks, ill tell them this; now for that dash panel i had the 4 disc in dash jbl head unit and I do have a 06 sport edition so do you know that part number for me to order.

thanks

so the OEM nav was $1500?

did you have it installed at your dealer, or an audio shop? How much did it cost?

Sorry I don't have the part number for the Sport version. You can probably check with your local dealer and then order the part online since the dealer will probably charge you $400+ for it.

No will, my toyota dealership (where I got the car from) are a bunch of a** holes....they wouldnt order me any parts even if i did give them the part number becuase they were "instructed not to order parts w/o an identical vin# of a car with that piece already it their" ....And if i wanted to install the navi through them they wanted 650..... So I went to a stero shop and they did it for 150..

Yup, it's the whole trim dark silver painted piece surrounding the radio, AC controls and the little storage bin below the AC controls.

Man your dealer sounds bad, mine'll look up parts for me no problem. Maybe try another one?

I see..It was to my understanding that the navigation from oem was the solora one and thats why it didnt fit right becuase it was a little smaller...so its the area where unit is at is smaller cut...am i right?

Yes!

The following 4Runner systems use the same dash trim:
2003+ single disc 6-speaker system
2003-2005 single disc 10-speaker JBL system
2006+ 6-disc non-JBL 6-speaker system
2003+ Navigation systems

The Solara NAV you bought is the same size as the units I've listed above.

The only headunit with a different dash panel is the 6-disc JBL 10-speaker system.

I hope that makes a little more sense?

I see...yea, you can expect those prices for labor from the dealer...what a-holes

why did you go with the oem navi, and not an aftermarket one? What are the advantages to the stock HU over a unit like the Kenwood DNX7100?

illwill, the reason i got the oem one was becuase in my 05 runner that i totaled i had the Eclipse avn 5435 and when i bought it last summer it was supposdly top of the line and better if not the same as the oem..Well the price tag on it also swayed me because they were selling the oem ones for 1999 and the eclipse was goin for 1200 off ebay....So i got that and installed it but it didnt look factory..my whole thing is i dont like that extra aftermarket stuff..and after i put that in thats what it looked like, there were gaps on both sides even after buying these schotche fillers or whatever...also it was slow though some of the features on it were cool like i could go into the backup camera when i was driving down the road and you can ground the parking brake wire to watch dvd's...the oems wont let you do that....So i say ya spend the extra 200 and get the oem version...it looks nicer and operates better...

tkr, thanks for the help man, ya its making a little more sense to me....So it doesnt matter though that my head unit was the 4 disc jbl unit in my 06 se..... So i just go to the parts department and tell him i want the dark grey/black dash panel from the se 4 runners w/o the jbl audio in it....(though i doubt the'll look it up)

I was bored so i went on ebay and found this double din trim plate

do you think this will work, it says for limiteds though
or this

trim kit

mk guys, i showed the stero shop the post and how they had to run the wires from the amp to the unit and they did that, however they couldnt get the wires in the unit becuase they said they didnt have the right pins and that i would have to find out how you guys did it and what you guys used and where i can order this at...

I appreciate that! I bought 30 of them that should be enough I think! Ok so i called Shreveport/Bossier Toyota and had the guy from the parts department fax me over a list of all the instrument panel trim there is...There were 8 different ones and after searching each one on parznet.com i eliminated all the ones that fitted the cd changers and 4wd.....so this is whats left

55405-35390 apperance package sport
55405-35440 Apperance package sport and audio premium
Exclus (am/fm. cd-ch)
55405-35370 Apperance package sport
55405-35380 Apperance package sport and audio premium
Exclus (am/fm. cd-ch)

im gonna go out on a limb here and say that the ones that say audio premium cd-ch means it has the jbl disc changer....

so that means that either the 35390 or 35370 is the one I need and im guessing one is 4wd...Hmm i wonder which is not!
