Uhmm explain to me again why Asian isn't a minority?

I have no doubt they are a minority and that they are sometimes even discriminated against.

As a group they have much lower prison rates because they commit less crime, even in the poorer neighborhoods.

My point is that if you're asian you can't relate to racism against blacks any more than I can. Being a "gentrifier" in a predominately black historic neighborhood, I experience racism daily. However this doesn't grant me some magic pass to understand racism, systemic or otherwise, aligned to that particular race.

I think the point was that if for example you're Asian or the like, you don't get to say "as a minority" as it relates to discrimination against blacks, but I would think it was hilarious if you did.

I do not have an answer to your question on #2 but in regards to your first question it could be like this, this, or a mix of the two... my guess is the latter.

Thanks for the link. I'm aware of the discrimination against certain groups by US colleges. I don't support AA and this is one of the reasons why. Asian-American nonprofit lobbying groups are the primary funders of legal cases trying to take down AA. I have to sympathize with them. It is a bad policy.

Unfortunately "so called progressives" have decided over the last 30 years to go "all in" on Affirmative Action and just ignore all the items I listed on my previous post. The result is simple: America as it is today.

IMO these kids should be working fix the following:

* END THE WAR ON DRUGS which is utterly responsible for the DECIMATION of many communities of color throughout the US (and the war on drugs is supported by the very political leaders who are organizing the protests in Ferguson)

* END HS TEACHER TENURE which is responsible for much of the abysmal schooling that poor communities suffer under, especially here in CA where it only takes 18 months to gain a life-long employment contract. The bad 5-10% of the each county are shuffled into the poorest districts over time, essentially placing all the lemons in one bad basket of a crappy school or schools. http://studentsmatter.org/our-case/vergara-v-california-case-summary/

* END CA & OTHER STATES THREE STRIKES LAWs which should go without saying has destroyed countless families as millions are locked up for life over non-violent crimes

* END THE (now) 20 to 1 FEDERAL SENTENCING DISPARITY between crack and powder cocaine. If 100 to 1 was racist then so is 20 to 1.

* END ALL MANDATORY MINIMUM SENTENCING LAWS and restore the power of sentencing discretion to judges

* CREATE A DAMN JOBS PROGRAM - push the democrats & Obama to create a real jobs program for Americas out of work (still waiting for that one and its been 6 years)

* CREATE A NATIONAL FREE COLLEGE PROGRAM for qualified individuals in specific major (eg STEM). This is basically a push for free college like Germany has so students, particularly lower to middle income students, don't have to go into 50K to 100K in debt to get a college education

I could have listed many many many more progressive actions that the Democratic leadership are not actively pursuing (in any way). I decided to only list items that I believe are specifically tied to failing neighborhoods such as the education pipeline and criminal justice system. The Democrats or so-called liberals have no plans to fix any of these issues and instead are focused on anti-discrimination rights and other small battles that will for the most part change nothing in these communities.

Note: There is NO firm support from the mainstream Democrats or the African American Leadership to end the war on drugs or in general do the reforms I listed.

Well, i think that somewhere in the police manual, you have to have decent belt to hold up your pants. So, yeah, that kinda sucks bc that rules out tons of our wonderful teens that we will be depending on in our old age....

The NYC case is very messed up. I'm not saying that the grand jury was wrong, I don't know.

But the police could have handled that better. The cops on scene did not call the paramedics or anything when the guy said he can't breath and started to die on video. I don't think they called the paramedics - at all. Sadly I don't know all the facts but what has been reported is extremely disturbing. The guy just dies on video because he is having a heart attack while getting taken to the ground.

But all said the NYC case is definitely a tragedy. Broken windows policing gone wrong.
