No interior lighting??

Recently picked up an 06 4runner limited v8 and I'm noticing that there are no automatic interior lights outside of the dash board. The dome lights don't come on when I open the door but I can push them and turn them on. Is this correct or is there any way to make it so that I can actually see inside my car at night when I open a door rather than having to fumble blindly?

make sure its on the door setting at the dome light. also check the fuse. dome.

the dome light in the back seat should be coming on with the door switch but yes they designed it with the whole front compartment has no lighting to it at all that comes on connected to the door switch. I think "some" doors have the useless little marker lights in them under the armrests.

but the good thing is, it is already set up to have it if you run the wire to connect it. its like they left a wire out of the wiring harness or something and never bothered to correct it :shrug:

they have youtube videos showing how to do it, but basically you fish a wire from the dome light to the front map lights and add a jumper wire to the dome light so both now go on and off with door switch like all other vehicles do, and both will still be manually turned on as normal
