No Low Fuel Warning Chime?

I've searched the 4th gen forums and used Google to try and find an answer this question to no success. I was wondering if there is an audible alarm when the low fuel light comes on. I’m used to this in all other vehicles I have owned, but it’s a little weird that my T4R does not chime or something when the fuel is low.

I do get the low fuel indicator light and I am obviously always looking at the gauge cluster to catch it, but just wondering if this may be something wrong or an option the dealer can turn on/off?

Thank you, toybox. I guess it's one of those things I can get used to. Now I just need to learn to calm down when my girlfriends VW passat alarm goes off; scares me every time for how damn loud that thing is!

Thanks again.

I've never even heard of such a thing. How would you be able to hear it over the stereo unless it was integrated into the sound system?

I do think the light is not easy to see (it doesn't "jump out" at you the way the low fuel indication on my 3rd gen used to.) OTOH, if you rely on the low fuel light to tell you when to fuel up, you've probably got a lot of other "issues" too. :D

I normally go by the DTE (distance to empty) display on my Scangauge. When it gets down to around 30 miles I know it's time to fill up.

@ Martinjmpr - you've never heard of the low fuel warning in a vehicle or in a T4R? I have driven VW, Jeep, other Toyota cars, Chrysler, Ford all that make an audible chime when fuel is low. It's typically on the same circuit as the door chime or seatbelt chime.

This isn't concerning to me in the fact that I'm afraid to run out of gas unexpectedly. I monitor the fuel level anyways, so sound or not, i know when I'm low.

I like your method using the Scangauge. That is something I want to learn more about. Thanks!

No vehicle I have ever owned had an audible alarm. I would find that so annoying when I was a poor college student.

It isn't rare....

Both my Silverado and Audi has audible bells, lights next to the gauge and a low fuel message on the DIC iirc.

It's my habit though to not let my vehicle dip below 1/4 of a tank of fuel. I am paranoid of running out of fuel.

When the light comes on there is about 3 gallons left.
