Looks just like the ones I can walk into the dealership and buy.

They both have the same class rules. The Ford just looks more stock. But it's had the entire cab cut in half too.

The raptor is a street truck with off road suspension. The tacoma is an all terrain truck by design. There's a million little reasons it's faster. They're all related to starting with a better platform out of the box. The same reason the land cruiser is so much faster as well. And the tundra. And the 4runner. Toyota rolled the 4runner during the baja and was still more competitive than the raptor ever has been.

The raptor looks great on paper. Not in results...

My buddy has a Focus RS, and had transmission and engine issues from the start, local PD had a couple EcoBoost interceptors that all had motor, PTU, and transmission issues. I love the Raptor as it's it's currently, but I would never want to own one outside of extended warranty, I'm genuinely curious what the new powerplant will be, I haven't seen anything on it yet

Hmmm, everything I hear points to a normally aspirated 7.0 liter V8. I guess we will have to wait and see. If not a turbocharged engine, bad move on Fords part!!!

LOL! An appearance package is not a performance package and rightfully so was not included in the article.

To be fair, the article lists the Chevrolet Z71, GMC's AT4 line up and the Ram Rebel. I don't consider those to be true off-road or performance vehicles either. If those get a mention then the 4runner Trail/TRD Pro deserves a mention as well, along with the rest of the Pro lineup.
