No more leafs

Well I am done kickin it old school. I am ditching my leafs, hangers, and shocks. Time to start rounding up link parts. Looks like i can get all the brackets and links rounded up for about 1500-1700 bucks. Got my buddy at poly getting me a smoking deal on a set of king 14" 2.0 resi coilovers. All said and done it will only be about a grand more than what i have currently.

Time has come to get this thing closer to the ground and flex like your girlfriend on yoga night.

As soon as all the parts get here its going under the knife so if anyone wants a ridiculous lift for their toyota ill make them a smoking deal.

It can go more if i trimmed the body mount pockets and put some 10" travel shocks or moved the shock hoop. The rear is getting bound up by the traction bars, just need to sleeve the tubes on the bars so they flex without binding.

Since you're going all out, you might as well put some portals under that thing and sell me your axles :)

What shocks are you using now? I may be interested. PM me details if you're willing to separate stuff.

Sounds like a good plan!

What material/thickness/lengths are you using for the links?

DOM 2"OD 1.5"ID .25" wall, 1.25" heims at the axles and creeper joints at the frame.

Still up in the air when it comes to 3 or 4 link. I'm leaning towards 3 linking front and triangulated 4 link in the rear. I may 3 link both ends just because I have more room between the frame rails for a 3 link.

I am open to suggestions though.

What's your target frame height? Are you going to use smaller tires or trim your fenders for your current tire size?

4link in the back takes gas tank relocation, doesn't it?

Wel im at 34" right now, I want to get down to about 28". I am going to keep the tires and axles the way they are. The front axle position will stay where its at. Just gonna get a high clearance bumper to make it fit. I am going to push the rear back 2" and open the wheel well up. All said and done it will look like it was supposed to be like that.

Well i still have to run the body lift, but that makes me able to raise it 3". If I do it right I can keep the bars out of the tank. Im going to raise the tank regardless, but I think a 3 link setup would be easier and cheaper.

^^ appreciate it but i am gonna go 3 link front and rear. I just have more room for it.

With the amount of power that you're putting out, wouldn't a 4 link be a lot stronger? I understand that you would most likely have to re-locate your gas tank but it's money well spent. I'm kinda new on the ideas of a linked suspensions but I have read a lot on it. Using a double triangulated 4 link rear you could control a lot of the squatting issues that you would have with your more powerful motor. You also wouldn't have to use a panhard bar. If I ever linked my runner or any other vehicle for that matter I would do a double triangulated rear end. It just makes more sense in my mind.

I would however use a 3 link with a panhard bar on the front because of the steering. If it was a trail only rig then I would use a 4 link front with hydro steering. But from what I understand, you can't really use a normal steering arm on the 4 link front end due to the binding.

Just my opinion. Either way, you have obviously done a lot of good work on your rig so far. Rock on brother!

I need someone that is good at figuring out spring rates.

I'm gonna run king 2.5 14" travel coilovers.

I just weighed it per corner and found it to be almost dead centered in the middle of the truck on weight.

percentages
49.8% front left to rear right
49.6% left to right
46.4% front to rear

weights
1277 Left Front 1269 Right Front
1101 Left Rear 1110 Right Rear

I need to know what spring rate to get me to about 60-70% droop. Meaning ride height uses about 60-70% of the coilover.

Do a search on pirate. I'm sure that there's a lot of that info there. A lot of the guys on pirate have experience with that stuff. If you cannot find it in a search then they would be more than willing to lend a hand. :)

Pirate is fine as long as you're not asking stupid questions. As long as they can tell you searched first, they're happy to help.

Just don't go in there asking where you can get a colored distributor cap cover. :D
