No More Milkshake Worries

B&M 72604 is being installed as I type this. Feeling relieved that I will not have this fear hanging over my head by noon today. Mechanic says install is going smooth as silk. I am sure a lift, the right tools and being a Toyota master tech does not hurt. This forum has been very helpful in my first six weeks of ownership to ferret out some of the more common issues and preventatively dealing with them (like timing belt, water pump and tensioner) which had never been replaced at 142k miles. Also changed all fluids, replaced brakes, rotors and drums all the way around as well as new valve cover gaskets. Cosmetically she got new front leather seats and a new AC head unit to light up at night. I feel as if "Lola" is ready for the PA winter ahead of us now.

should have done yourself. Took about 30 minutes. How much do they charge for the install?

I thought about doing it myself but was then, nah, let the shop do it. I am not sure how much it was. My guess, two hours of labor or so.....probably $200.

Does it come with the thermal bypass?

The model that I installed does have a thermal bypass.

It was definitely relieving for me when I finally got mine installed. Well worth it, and since I wrench on my truck with my dad, anytime spent working on it with him and learning from him is time well spent IMO.

Glad to hear everything went smooth and you're milkshake free! To celebrate, perhaps get a strawberry milkshake from McDonalds. :lol:

2 hours? Dang, I'm no mechanic and did it I know less than an hour, and that's being in no hurry at all.

Ok so if everyone is so woried about the trans cooler in the radiator blowing out then why not just replace the radiator? Lets face it our 4runner are getting old and the radiator will only last so long. I got 255k out of my oem radiator with no issues until the top tank cracked. I plan to add an external trans cooler for cooler teans temps but still plant to use the in rad one as well.
