My 06 was showing some significant swirls, so last week I invested in a Porter-Cable 7424. I also got an orange, white, & black pad. Here's the process I used:
I clayed my roof & hood for the first time--amazing. Finish felt smooth as glass. Very easy to do...probably took 20 minutes.
Next used the PC, orange pad, & Mcguiar's #9 Swirl Remover. This took out about 90% of the swirls. If you need a little more bite, step up to Mcguiar's #2. This part took the longest. I still had to apply some pressure to get all the swirls, but it did a great job.
Next used the PC with Mcguiars #7 Glaze & white pad.
Finished with the PC & NXT 2.0 wax with black pad.
Almost all swirls & scratches gone!! Very happy with results.
Whole job probably took 5 hours. Next time should be faster as I get better. I'm very pleased with the results. I'd attach pictures but they wouldn't do justice. My runner looks better than the day I brought it home from the dealer.
I was a little nervous about spending the money & using a DA polisher. Turned out to be well worth it & very easy to do with great results. If you use the PC until the polish/wax is almost completely broken down, the residue easily wipes off with a microfiber towel.
