no pwer under load

Hey there folks. Gotta ?. I have an 86 4runner I had just rebuilt the motor to stock with the exception of an engine bldr cam 268 cam. I have se the initial timing to 0 deg. the problem I’m having is it seems that then engine is struggling to rev beyond 3500 rpm. I have check the timing & all fuel systems components & filters. And they are good, am I missioning something? I am starting to think the catalytic converter but that would give me the problem thought out the RPM range. Thanks in advance for any advice.

TPS or Clogged Cat would be my first guess

Had the issue with a friends civic long time ago, it ended up being the distributor..

could be a fuel issues. fuel pump, fuel filter, and did you check the chain timing not just the distributor

I know when my converter was clogged on a 95 3.0l it was kinda like what you are dis-cribbing it would idle fine and if you tried to give it much gas at about 2500 it pooped all over itself you could try just unbolting the down pipe from the manifold and seeing if it revved through the power band better not much $ to replace an exhaust donut if its not the converter
