I replaced an oil pump that had a porous casting and also installed an adjustable timing tag. After using a piston stop to set the timing tag I went to verify my timing. So, I jump t and e1 under the hood but nothing changes. The motor doesn't decrease RPM, nor does it re**** the timing like it's supposed to. I know the wiring is good, the CEL flashes like it should if you were to check for codes, and I get good continuity between the fuse panel and the ECU on all associated wires. My idle is good, all sensors are good and I'm not getting any CEL under normal driving conditions. I am however getting a code 51 because I deleted my A/C. I have heard that a bad or out of adjustment TPS could cause this. I will check the TPS as soon as I get off work and verify that it is good. Without the ECU re****ing the timing, the timing is set at 15* BTDC and it's running smooth and strong like it should. I have no reason to believe that anything is broken or out of adjustment other than the ECU not re****ing the timing like it should when t and e1 are jumped. I swapped out ECU's to eliminate the ecu being the problem but the condition stays. I also disconnected the cold start injector, the aux air valve and plugged the vacuum lines from the aux air valve (intake side) to eliminate the possibility of those parts being the problem.
Here's where you guys chime in. The FSM doesn't cover anything in troubleshooting for this so I'm turning to you guys. What would cause the ECU to not draw back the idle and not re**** the timing when t and e1 are jumped?
