Hey, don't mean to steal your thread here- but I was reading something in this thread that warrants a question.
My t4r has 180k on it the trans shifts fine, but the fluid is very dirty. The guy I bought it from said he did not know when it was last changed, and I am apprehensive because I do not want to lose the clutch particles that are floating around in it.
I noticed someone say a few comments back that the hot trans fluid (in my case perhaps extra hot) could cause overheating because the trans cooler is in the radiator.
I'm overheating after about 40 minutes of driving, particularly under load (mountains) or in traffic. I've changed t stat, rad cap, hoses, fan clutch and it does not show HG symptoms. Turning heater on brings it back down.
Any chance there could be some truth to my hot trans oil affecting my radiator's ability to cool my engine??
