new to the forum, just picked up a 2014 trail edition 4runner, and on drive home noticed its missing the RSCA button. does anyone have any insight as to why and what modifications toyota may have implemented to warrant its removal? i have been in several conversations w dealer, and with corporate, and neither seem to have any insight or understanding. and in fact didnt even know it was removed, even though all the brochures and collateral etc state the manual switch is still a standard feature on the 2014's. any insight is appreciated.

no 2014 toyotas have the switch anymore. i went to 3 lots and checked: FJ, Sequoia, Tacoma, Tundra, 4runner, none have them.
after weeks of attempting to get some sort of response from toyota, i finally got a call from corporate. it appears that ALL the brochures and digital collateral for 2014 had typos in them. the switch is NO LONGER available, and now toyota claims the switch is no longer needed due to updated due to an updated logic system within the airbag system. supposedly they claim the new system has better detection for potential roll and angles and the side curtain will NOT deploy unless "really needed". i have asked for all of this in writing and am awaiting a response.

Does anyone have more info on this original question? I was looking for the switch on my 2015 TP and nothing....

My guess: it isn't needed. I never turn it off and even when I tipped over on my side, the air bags didn't deploy.

Funny, I turned mine off today on an easy trail, just in case, I forget you actually rolled and they didn't pop.

I definitely wouldn't call it a roll, more like a very gentle tip on its side. Just a few small dents and broken plastic stuff.
