No running board love?!?!?!?!?

Why is it that everyone is removing thier running boards?? I actually enjoy them, the make car washing easy, they help keep funk from washing up from the road, easy child loading. Am I the last of the boardhicans?

Yes it does make car washing a LOT easier. I noticed that the last time I tried to wash my roof.

I don't have kids (yet) so I can't comment on that.
 
i took mine off because my I would have to take a huge step to get out of the driver seat without rubbing the back of my leg on them. But now that they are off I do notice a lot more crap ending up on the sides, gonna install some front mud flaps this weekend to solve that.

I'm with you on this one. I'd like to keep my paint in good condition and I really don't like the look of the 4Runners without them.
 
mine would of been smashed to smithereens by now, so i took them off while they still were in tact and sold them. aka i have hit my rocker panel twice, and that would of been one ugly looking running board.

and i think its better without, and it may be because i use my runner to its full potential. and i like a little mud on the sides haha

I think my runner looks sick with the running boards but i took mine off so i wouldnt destroy them offroading. I think it looks pretty sick without them too though.
 
i took mine off and put them back on the next day. i didn't like the way they looked from the side, plus they keep it a whole lot cleaner. i don't do lots of offroading on rocks with high breakover angles. when i do, it's in my wrangler.

I would love to have kept mine on, i love how they look, and they hide all the cripe that hangs down like the gas tank and frame rails.. but after bashing one in on my first offroad adventure, i couldn't justify leaving them on
 
ya i think i depends on the look your going for plus what you use your runner for. If you like the rugged look your most likely take it off road more often i duno. i kinda like them for a classy clean look but ya pulled mine off. IMO throw some nerf bars or sliders you can enjoy both ways??
 
I also like them on, partly for looks as well as keeping crap off the truck. Mind you I like the look of a good muddy truck after a day of wheeling, but if I had them off I know the bottoms of my doors would be rusty with the salt/winter that we have to deal with. Having never taken them off the bottoms of my doors still look new, even on the inside in the seam. I know this wouldn't be the case after a short time with them off.

I'll keep them on until some 4x4 damage forces me to remove them!
 
I was going to take mine off, but have decided not to. The wife uses 'em, and I like the look.

I don't like the pant leg getting dirty, though. But I'm over it.
 
anybody got some pictures of mud flaps on the front of a limited? i know we dont have the special factory ones like sr5 models have.
