No Sound from Radio in 03 T4R Limited

Hey Guys,

I have an 03 Limited, and its got the premium audio. This morning when I turned on the heated seats, the stereo system when on mute. I tired all options, radio, cd, everything, and nothing was working. The display worked, I turned it on and off, but still no sound.

Eventually when I turned the car off then on again, the sound came back.

Any idea's on what's going on???

I have '03 SE with JBL 10 Speaker (same system). Mine does same thing when its very cold outside. Of course its only did it 2x while under warrenty! Apparently the rear mounted JBL amp is the problem. During a cold spell a couple weeks ago mine did it 3 or 4 times in one week - I could hear a click from the right rear corner - then no sound without turning car off and back on. On other threads here discovered that some owners had gotten a replacement amp (some dealers tried a new head unit but that didn't seem to be the problem) while under warranty. Could not tell from past threads if dealer replaced with same amp unit, a revised unit or a totally different model unit. The newer models use a totally different amp. Since I'm out of warranty and I never mentioned it while under warranty, I guess I'm forced to live with it or pay big $ to replace the intermittent problem. Not sure if related but my rear seat audio system no longer powers on either.

Does anyone who had the amp changed under warranty know if the replacement has the same number as original?

Would any other Toyota amp work - even if mounted separate from the subwoofer?

This TSB is for static noise from the JBL on cold mornings. I know it is not the same problem but it does mention a new improved amp part number.

THXS fro TSB - it does say "or no sound from the audio system" too BUT my vehicle is a later production date so supposedly has the improved amp already.
