No Spring Compressor...Remove Sway Bar?

Doing my install now. Do I NEED/WANT to remove my sway bar to do the no compressor strut install?


Also any torque specs are appreciated.

Also +1 : do I need any red/blue lock when reinstalling any of these bolts?

Generally, you only need a spring compressor if you’re swapping coils on a strut, not for a strut install. More details would help.

But yes, if installing new struts, disconnecting the sway bar links from your spindles will help.

You don't need to remove sway bar at all, just the bottom end link to the lower control arm. To remove you need to loosen the both bolts on the lower control arm and let the arm swing down so you can just remove the strut with spring.

Any tips for if my lower arm isn’t going low enough? I’ve loosened the bolts quite a bit

I believe you can use a bottle jack stuffed up in the wheel well pushing down on the upper control arm which will also push the lower arm down

I literally did this today and DID NOT remove sway bar

Use the floor jack handle or long breaker bar etc to leverage it down.

Did you remove the two nuts on the LCA and loosen the alignment cam nuts to the rear of the LCA? My LCA was hanging at 180 degrees today when I did it

So we got the lava and everything together. Do I want any blue or red lock on the ball joint bolts

Fronts are all solid. For the rear 5100s do I need the middle washed from the stock struts?
