No Start

Hello. I have an 87 Four runner with a 4 cylinder engine. This vehicle had an alarm and disableing device on it. I removed both as they weren't working right. The vehicle will turn over and has spark at the plugs. I don't have any fuel pumping to the fuel rail. After I removed the engine disableing device, I had a yellow wire and a red wire open ended inside the left kick panel near the fuse panel. The yellow wire has battery voltage to it all the time and red wire has battery voltage to it when the ignition is on. These wires are both fairly heavy at approx. a 14 guage. They both run up to the ignition switch where they are factory soldered to the switch. I'm assuming that they operate the fuel pump but I can't see where they connect to anything. Did they have a block connecter on the end of them at one time? Where would I look to connect these?

in my signature is a link to 4crawler it has all the tests youll need to get it running,
sounds to me like the COP is not working.
youll have to test it, its above the ECU in the passenger side kick panel.
you can test the relay by using a paperclip in the diagnostic port (4crawler has a full picture tutorial on how to do this.)

Still No Start

Thanks for the info Bad Vision. I'm afraid that I'm still stalled on this. I've uploaded a couple of pictures to show the wires that come from the ignition to the fuse panel area. Should they have a connector on the end of them? Does anyone know where they plug in? I think this might be the reason why this vehicle doesn't have fuel being delivered to the rail.

those two wires look like the go to the ignition switch. if they are both open i wouldnt think would cause a no start.
in your top photo the bottom left relay is the starter relay test that to make sure power is going to the ingnition.
sounds to me like like a ECU issue not a wire issue.
do the TPS calibration and check the AFM again.

To rule those wires out, follow them up and see where they go. Do they go to an alarm horn, relay (if so, what does the relay control), etc. Those are not factory wires so they may have been an interrupt for something.

Never mind, I re-read your original post and took another look at your picture. I see that they are going to the ignition but I still do not think those are factory wires. Those solders don't look like the original ones nor do I remember seeing those wires on my runner. Take a look at the wiring diagrams in the FSM and see if the diagram has a red and yellow wire coming from the ignition. If it does then follow the wires and see where they're supposed to go. Also, poke around the rest of the wiring harness under the dash and left kick panel and see if there are any other bare wires that were disconnected or cut.

Unfortunately, wiring issues like these on the old toyotas can be a night mare. It took me many many hours of reading through wire diagrams and finding a good wire harness to put my electrical system back to stock after the p/o destroying the wire harnesses.

Back at it.

I've been away from this project/problem for some time as you can see by the dates on the thread. I still haven't resolved this problem. After removing the alarm and immobilizer, I am left with no power to the fuel pump. The pictures in the previous posts show 2 wires, one red and one yellow that are left over. They come from the ignition switch. One is live in the ignition on position and one is live in the ignition start position. I'm sure that these are at the root of the problem but I'll be darned if I can see where they connect. Is there by chance someone out there that can help me figure this out? Does anyone have one that they could look at and point out where these go? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
