sweet runner. i have a blazeland lt in front of my 1st gen runner and love it. its not as fancy as your since i use mine for rock crawling.
the rear end set up is sweet. was it a kit or your in the suspension business. i know its not easy to do a rear end set up like that

Those Blazeland kits look cool, and seem to work well.
I use to do a lot of suspension work, had a small business doing it and cages. Now I have a different business that allows me to afford the luxury to just do mine in my spare time, my wife reminds me that when I am working on it "Remember, this is your "Fun Time""
Yes, there were a lot of variable that came into play designing and building it, the SwayBar I integrated into it really turned out sweet and makes for a great handling ride.There is no pushing through the corners at all, I tried it without and the rear then articulates and as the spring compresses it flattens out/gets longer and starts to make the rear of the truck oversteer. On dirt it is OK but doing 50-65 on pavement I did not like it. I can jack it up about 5-6" on one side and the other tire will start to come up also, but I have 16" of travel, and when I hit something on one side going fast the sway bar flexes enough you get the articulation needed without pitching the truck.
I thank Filthy Motorsports for all the help he gave me while I was designing it, we both came up with the same Swaybar we thought was going to work - Weight, length, thickness and diameter - and we nailed it!!!!:whoo:

Are those American Racing wheels? We had them on our 89 and the were about the coolest you can find. They especially look cool with aisin manual hubs in the front!

Very interested in this roof rack... Did yours have a stock/factory rack? What did you mount the rack to up front?

No mine did not have a factory roof rack. I removed the headliner and drilled 3/8" holes through the roof, then, mounted the rack with bolts and backing plates, I used a piece of 1/4"ish, mud flap material, with lots of seam sealer while assembling between the rack and rook on the outside.
I do have to admit I blew out the right rear window while doing it . I had it within 3/8" of having all 4 mounts sitting flat on the roof and thought I "Should be able to just snug them up", not the case, as soon as I started to "Snug" the right rear the window popped and that was it. So I had to remove it about 10 times, and tweak it till it sat perfect before I tightened it down.
No leaks so far and it has been almost a year since I did it.

Also, I built it out of .120" 1.5", as I wanted to be able to load it with a lot of weight, plus we do a lot of shooting off the roof, so 400# +, and I wanted a little protection in case I do put it on its lid and I figure it should at least distribute the load across all the pillars. I have had several vehicles with cages and they are a PITA for a daily driver, but I wanted a little protection just in case - I have rolled 2 past Toyotas, cages in both.

Same situation on my T4R, no factory roof rack. I have yet to pull the head liner to see what/if any support structure is up there for a factory/dealer installed one. Would like to have some support to bolt a fab rack onto.
Good advice on the window tweaking... I'll keep that in mind. Thanks!

How does the heim joint steering feel compared to tie rods? I have the Total Chaos idler and have been thinking upgrading to heims but I'm not sure how it would hold up on a DD.

Yes, there was a few ribs across the back and I attached the rear to them, but then the sunroof takes up ALL the space forward and to the sides, I got 1 bolt through a rib in the front so I used a backing plate, that is why there is no supports in the middle of my rack.

The steering, I honestly don't notice a difference between the two, BUT IT LOOKS SWEET!!!! and I feel better about beating on it. I have about 10K on mine since last year, I take to to central OR and that is about a 750mile round trip. Just last weekend I disassemble the steering links - idler and Pittman arm - and re greased them - all the Heims were still snug, I think using high quality ones is the key - , and I squirt some Lucas Tool Box Buddy on all the heims, upper and lower Uniballs and all the mounts every few weeks. So there is a bit more maintenance than a rod end.

very interested in your steering set up. i have TC idler arm already and was wonder if i could just buy everything else you have to work with it? also did you have to drill out your spindle to bolt up the end links?

I am sure JD Fab will sell you what you want/need, they are great to work with. It is all their kit and yes I did have to drill out my spindles - I did it on the truck with a reamer.
I really don't remember how much it was as I was sending them lots of $ for all kinds of stuff.
They will take care of you.

That gun doesn't take a typical magazine. The ammo is on a belt that has all the rounds linked together with little metal clips.

I'm a little curious as to what's up with your gun mount. Is that a caster with the wheel taken off? I see that lasting about a 2 second burst before you're wearing your gun. Don't take this the wrong way because I don't know if you're serious about this or if it's a joke. I only say this because you have a fore grip on a machine gun that you're not going to shoulder fire OR hip fire.

Once again, don't take this the wrong way but I'm curious about this whole thing. You have IR lights on your rig, you drive around at times wearing NVG's and you have a poorly configured boom stick that I assume you're going to mount to your 4runner.

Are you prepping for the end of the world?

Yes it is a caster assembly. 2 seconds huh? :tape2: Ever shot an HK21? Set up correctly - like mine - they have little recoil. Also that is no a Harbor Freight Jobbie - Side note, My business is repairing Material Handling Equipment - , If you think I I am going to put my $35K beltfed on some chincy POS you are wrong, the caster assembly will hold up with no problem. :hat:
Yes it will be mounted with a QD to remove also.
Yes the fore grip is on it because I have had it set up to be shoulder fired and just hadn't removed it while doing this - no harm with it.
