Noise after Lift install

Well I've been traveling on my lift a few months now and ever since it's been lifted there's been a noise/slight vibration from what appeared to be the passenger front wheel.

I know I need to do LBJ and outer tie rod ends and did that job last night.(OEM) Old wheel and stock tire size had this issue as well. Got larger tires on a week later and still the same issue. Then put my wheels I had on my black runner on this runner and still the noise is there.

The noise vibration only shows itself during anything over 50mph. Now it maybe a little lower in the mph range but the roads at that level aren't even smooth enough to hear it.

I can hear it on anything above 50. I accel its not there but as soon as I let off the gas it's there.


Possible front hub bearing?

Sounds like a front hub bearing , had the same noise in a Lexus SUV and it was a bad front bearing .

if its your wheel bearing is should sound like a humming noise . if its a bracket it would clank and chatter . you can also check your drive shaft for a worn u-joint. just some ideas . worn u-joints also make a humming vibrating noise.

Its for sure a wheel bearing. Drive shaft is new OEM lol but thanks for the advice!!

If you jack it up and take the wheel off and spin it with your hand some times you can feel the bearing binding . ( doesn't feel smooth ) also wiggle it and see if it has play .

I had the same sound when I would let off the gas of my truck after I did my lift on my 2WD build. The best I could figure out was that it was my driveshaft. See, diveshafts on 2wd 4runner and driveshafts on 4wd drive models are different for some reason. 4wd models have some what of a extension to them. I never resolved the problem, however, when I bought my 4WD 4runner, and swapped my lift over. The 2wd had no more noise when letting off the gas....

Just my thoughts....no real conclusions. But I read thread after thread trying to figure it out.

It could still be the driveshaft. Lifting throws the rear pinion angle off between the pinion and drivesahft. The difference between the pinion angle and the driveshaft should be zero +/- 1 degree. When I lifted mine with 890 springs in the rear, I had about 7-8 degrees difference between the pinion angle and the driveshaft. This will produce a vibration and possibly a hum.

It seems most folks just live with it, but I hate vibrations. They tend to cause things to wear out faster than is reasonable. I smoked a brand new rear u joint in less than 5000 miles post lift before I addressed the pinion angle.

I'll take the front wheel off to inspect closer. Guess this doesn't happen to all 2wd 4runners as it didn't with my last one.

Adjustable control arms. I have a pair of upper control arms from Metal Tech 4x4 that helped some. There are a couple other manufacturers, search for rear control arms, there was a thread on them recently.
