Noise from drivers side dash...Just me?

I have had a random rattle that sounds like it's coming from behind the driver side AC vent. That or the wiper area, I could tell it was wind related. After our last road trip it was very prevalent and even the wife noticed...so it was time to find it. She hopped in the driver seat while I ran a leaf blower into the front end at various locations waiting for her to signal that she heard it. It wasn't until I hit the wheel well that I got the thumbs up. The plastic clips that hold the inner fender liner were loose. I put I tie wrap under them for now and the noise is gone. It is funny how sound travels because sitting in the truck you would swear it was right behind the dash.

Thank you! I will be trying this out when I get home tonight. Reasoning out all of this in my head, the wheel well cover pin seems like the most logical conclusion. I will be testing that one out first.

That could easily be it. I will be checking it out this weekend.

I also plan on checking the "air dam" between the hood and the windshield. From the rest of my searching I have gleaned that this was also a problem spot.

I had the same noise from those clips. I was seriously going to sell this thing if I couldn't find the noise. I was driving me freaking crazy! I had to drive everywhere with the windows open to drown out the tapping.

Rattle on 2019 4Runner

Exactly that, thank you! The stupid loose clips on the inner rubber mudflap. I wish I would have researched this 10k miles ago!!!

Since I'm here, check out Accessorides.com.....I just installed a plug and play remote start on my 2019 T4R Pro and I love it!!! Figured I'd share.

Any thoughts on if the "rubber hanging guards" are even necessary in that spot? I'd like to just remove it all together....

I had a similar noise, drove me crazy. It ended up being the little shield in drivers side wheel well.

I have a '16 Trail and hear the same noise. It's more of a flapping noise that comes from the left side hood or wheel well area. I thought it was a result of a level kit but the more I hear it the more I don't think that is the problem. I removed the mud flaps but that didn't work. It could be those black covers inside the well that cover the engine. Is there a purpose to those other than covering the engine?
