Noise question

2008 limited, I have a strange noise coming from what sounds like the driverside, inside under the dash near the e-brake lever/fuse box. Once I start the car and put into drive w/in the first 1-2 feet I get a muted click sound, just once and its gone. Sounds like it could be a check of some sort. This is the only time it happens (after first start-up only) Any ideas what this could be and does any one else have this? Thanks
EDIT: It almost sounds like someone flicking the top corner of looseleaf paper, if that makes any sence to anyone.

Everyone with a T4R has similar luck:) You are, most likely, hearing the ABS self-check.

Is that what it is? I thought it could be some sort of self check(as I stated in my orig post.) Do you have the same noise also? Good stuff, thanks a bunch for the reply, saves me a trip and explanation to the dealer.

EDIT: found on the sequoia and tundra forums they have the same noise 9-12 mph VSC/ABS self check.

I have an 08 SR5 and it has the same noise too. Sounds like its coming from the brake pedal or something. Its a little annoying and am considering taking it into the dealer. Glad to know there's at least one other out there :P

just be thankful you dont feel it in the pedal as some other toyota model owners do!
I'm pretty sure its the self check already mentioned, i think i ran across a service bulletin on it, my RNR does it too. I'll try to look it up tommorrow and get back to you

Nuke, you're right. I checked the manual and found on p. 345 it says "You may hear a small sound in the engine compartment after the engine is started or the brake pedal is depressed repeatedly. This is a pump pulsating sound of the brake system, and it is not a malfunction."
