noise under the hood driving me nutz

Hi,
I own a 2007 SR5 and had the 30,000 mile service performed. I have a weird intermittent plastic fluttering noise now that is driving me crazy. It only happens at 60+ miles an hour.

I am not bringing it back to the dealer after getting robbed ($650) and generating tremendous interest in trading it (stealing it)

Any suggestions please on what they might have done to cause this?

Does the noise change with RPM? Same in 4 as D? On a safe, straight road have you tried coasting in N or even putting it in N and shutting the engine off briefly? Are you possible getting a sunroof rattle/leak associated with 60mph?

it seems to happen most often on a straight highway road, not curved. I don't think it is driveline related, but I can give it a shot. No sunroof.
It seems to be a plastic part that is hitting the wind just right and starts to vibrate, but only for a second - It is loud in the cabin! I am hoping that there is some clip that might be broken or not put back correctly.
I had the tires rotated and been checking the threads on brake shimmy, that doesn't seem to be it.

what did they do besides the 30k service items for $650? That seems really high.

Ah... Is it fairly high frequency? Get painters tape or better yet, wide electrical tape and tape the perimeter of the windshield. Next take it for a drive. I've been down that road...

I think the fan might be it, I inspected the fan and it looked ok, but at 70mph things might be different -
As for the windshield, I checked but didn't try the electrical tape thing -
The rubber inserts on the top of the truck were another possibility since I had one pop out in the carwash.

as for what got done for $650 -
30k service
Adjust throttle body (I now understand what this means, hence robbed - you learn this once I guess)
Replace Power steering fluid (again, robbed)
Adjust brakes (again again, robbed - this is part of the 30k service!!)

This is my first new vehicle ever owned - My survey was less than stellar.
Good thing they have my parents and girlfriend as loyal repeat customers, but I will go to another dealership, period.

I have posted before about my Toyota Dealer's service Dept. They had us out one evening for their Service Dept. get to know us Info. and a finger food thing.
Well the one thing that really got my attention and everyone else, was the Service Manager making the statement, that the Service writers were on COMMISSION. That really sent a BIG message to me. Meaning don't deal with this bunch of stealership birds.

And I won't be getting my service from them.:drummer:

Is it a plastic or metal "tinny" noise? Long shot but it could be a heat shield above the exhaust that has come loose.
