Noise when idling on Drive? Lot's of description!

So, when I bought the truck I knew about it, here is the basic problem, when the engine is !!warm!! and I press the brakes, (on drive) basicly... idling, it starts shaking intermittently, shakes, no shakres, shakes no shakes, and sometimes it shakes for a very long time, seems to be near my seat not to far.

What I have noticed :

Only shakes when engine is warm, NEVER! happens when it is cold!

Only shakes when tranny is engaged! (If I put it on N it stops!)

When I activate the rear ventilation to hot, high, it some times stops the shaking, I turn it to off, shaking is back, ect, until a certain point where it doesnt even matter it will shake with or witouth the heater on..

I noticed the first shaft out of the tranny is leaking grease a bit, every else seems to be fine (why would a bracket make noise only when engine warm anyway)

Havn't had time to check tranny oïl (hopefully not milky)
Prestone seems pretty legit I could test it


Has this happened to anyway? Need more info? Tips tricks? anyhelp would help me, I'm getting my bad boy ready for some serious offroad modifications on the long run, but I need to repair the small things first!

Anyone else thinking IAC? Most cars I see with an idle problem always seem to have a wonked-out IAC.

doesn't sound like a IAC since it goes away as soon is a go to neutral or park. wich mean's when my engine is running their is no sound, but when I engage the tranny it happens... might be a dead catalyser or maybe a loose/rotten exhaust holder... gotta check so more

and it's not a idling problem... i just say the problem occurs when I am idling... but its not related to it in my opinion, my idling is stable and fine

Well if I put it on Drive and Park it is automatic 6cyl 3.4L 97 ^^ living in the rust belt

Had exactly the same issue. Ended up being a heat shield vibrating against the exhaust only when tranny was engaged. Bent it up a little and problem was solved.

thanks mate ill have to check that out hopefully its something as small as that, I don't have time to do a tranny swap or anything big at this time, I need to get my frame of first xD

Good timing on this post; I have been getting the same type of noise lately. Considering the type and scenarios required to make the noise I have not had a chance to troubleshoot it out yet.

Check your flexplate just because. It has a tendency to crack and still run and drive for quite a while and go somewhat unnoticed by a lot of people. If not you at least ruled it out.
