Noise when in reverse

It seems to be automatic tranny related. You don't notice it under normal circumstances. I was backing into a parking place with a fence to my left so the sound would be contained and directed to my ears. It was only under that condition that I heard it. It's a sound like "sssssssss". I stopped while in reverse and it's there. I put it into park and the noise goes away. Back to reverse and there is the "sssssssss..." again.

Maybe it's normal? Maybe not.

Sorry i know this is a super old thread, but did you ever figure out if this was a problem/what this problem was? I was backing into my garage today and heard this sound, same situation since i had the garage wall to my left since it was directed at my ears

I had a similar issue, it ended up being the exhaust pipe, right behind the cat, rubbing on the frame cross member. I moved the hangers up a little and it cleared the cross member.
