Non Smart Key Programming

So, if any of you know, Toyota is still using these dumb keys that they have been since 1999. It has an unlock button, lock button, and panic button.

What I am trying to do, and I tried to read in the manual but can't figure it out, is to press the unlock button and have it open all doors at the same time. Sounds super complicated right? But upon reading page....57 I think it was...I am not certain that this is what it will change. The manual is very frustrating like that. Has anyone fixed this? I wish I could post a video on here of it.

I know there is a part in the manual for locking and unlocking the doors once you put it into drive or park, but that is not what I care about.

Help me out if you can. Thanks.

You can push the unlock button twice and it will UNLOCK all the doors, making all the doors open is a different story....

Yeah, I do know that French. It is just really dumb that they haven't evolved...Or if they have, that they haven't said anywhere clearly.

Customizing features; which is to what you're referring, is achieved using a Toyota Techstream coding & diagnostics (cable) tool!:

...the manual only explains a few of the many ways that the Toyota vehicle can be customized to the customers liking! The cable that I ordered (from ebay) is compatible with windows 7, 8, and 10: 32 or 64-bit! Cost was $34 bucks with FREE Priority S&H!

The kit is user friendly but the included video moves 'VERY FAST', so plan on spending time pressing the pause button (a lot!) to learn the order in which to sequence and install the components!

The cable goes from your truck's ODBII port to your laptop.

I'm pretty sure you can't do it with Techstream. Single-press unlock was one of the first things I wanted to change on my 2015 TEP. So I got a cable and installed Techstream on my laptop. I was able to customize a whole bunch of stuff...but alas, single-press for all doors wasn't an option for non-smart key owners.

Things I was able to customize using that cable and Techstream:
Seat belt chime
Running lights
Disabled exterior lights flashing when locking/unlocking
Interior lights when unlocking or opening doors.
Keeping doors locked while in Park
And a few others I'm sure I'm forgetting...

I still have Techstream working on my laptop, so I can fire it up to double check, but I'm 99% sure you won't be able to configure it to unlock all doors with a single press.

You've got it! You just insert the disk into the "E-drive" in your computer disc drive and it will begin to load. It will then load a video that prompts you as to which files to copy/paste into the registry (C-drive) and how to do that... don't worry, cuz if I could do it... lol!

Once it's loaded onto your laptop, take it to the truck, plug the BIG-END (16 pins) into the 'OBD-II' port near the emergency brake pedal, and the other end in the USB (universal serial bus) in your laptop! Don't start the vehicle, but rather, put it in the ON-Position!

Once it's loaded the options page will be on-screen. Now click 'connect'. You can choose Customize. A list will come up with all of the categories that are available, e.g., lights, Illumination, Radio, windows, Locks...etc! In your case, you might choose Doorlocks (or Locks).

Once doorlocks is selected, another set of options will appear. You'll choose the one that you want to change... I changed what happens when I shift from drive to park; I don't want the door-locks to un-lock until I'm ready to get out, but that's what it does from the factory, so I changed that for security purposes!

Yeah, pushing the button twice is so taxing...

It's by design, 1 push 1 door is to only allow the driver's door to be unlocked, not sure what's so hard about pressing the button twice, for me it's all muscle memory anyway

So I can tell you are new to technology and 4runners. What you are not getting is that the technology they are using is 18 years old and needs to be updated. Everyone else has updated systems. Toyota is lacking here just like they are on the Entune system. Garbage.
