Noob and FJ Springs question

Hi all,

First off, this is a great forum. I've found lots of great advice already! I've had my 2006 V8 Limited for about a month now and have been very happy except for its somewhat mushy ride. Sorry, no pics yet, but it's a very generic silver Ltd! I've searched through so many posts on FJ springs, etc, but can't seem to find the answer.

I've located a set of FJ Springs, but just had a few questions. The seller is selling the springs and shocks, but the springs aren't mounted to the shocks (or is it the other way around). Does anyone know if there is any additional hardware to do the swap? In other words, with the springs in hand, could I use what's on the truck now and get the job done?

The FJ setup includes the black Tokicos with 10k miles. Would you recommend aftermarkets, like Bilsteins? If so, would I need a different length shock or would the standard Bilstein HDs work? I also plan to add a spacer, or possibly leveling shocks if the factory Tokicos aren't sufficient.

Hey man there are a couple of other threads about them. Yes they will fit and if they are not attached that is good because you won't need spring compressor to compress them. I believe the black tokicos are right off of a regular FJ if i am correct. Those are nice shocks but you can also use the ones you have since your 4runner isn't that old. You can also use a spacer that will work. The one for the 4g and FJC are compatible and will work together.

I bought a set of FJC Trail Teams shocks and springs and plan on running a Toytec 1" spacer up front. I am hoping to get it installed very soon so I will let you know how it turns out!

Won't I need a compressor to mount the new FJ springs to whatever shocks I end up going with? Are the stock FJ shocks the same length as a stock 4R shock? I'm leaning towards Bilsteins...would I just use the same length as the stock 4R?

u could of just gotten adj bilstein 5100s, that way u would have the billies & not need the fj springs & spacer for lift.

My goal is to firm up the ride as well as level the front. Has anyone gone with the 5100s with the FJ springs?
