Greetings all.

Name's Foques,
I am a driver (and a photographer) based out of IL.. Close to WI border. Currently, I am driving a G35, but am exploring my options.. Originally, I registered on the FJ cruiser forums as I was fairly convinced that I did want the FJ.. But the interior just doesn't speak to me. Also, a lot of senior member on their board said that if they had a chance for a "do over", they would go with a 4runner.
So I figured, i'd register here and see if I can find what I need to know about this car.

I already have a plan in place of what would be done to it if I was to get it.. but hey, who knows what'll happen next.

sooo.... I've been searching around, and first thing I am seeing is that there aren't any common complaints on the car... period?

Am I just blind or is this true?
How is handling of this car? (I know, it's a truck, and it won't ever handle like any of my old cars, but still.. I've never owner a truck.. all my cars were slammed to the ground)
Are there any ways to increase handling? (I do not plan on taking it off roading)

I looked over an SR5 2011 model yesterday, the Non nav models seem to have an integrated stereo system.. Seeing as one of the first things i plan on doing is replacing the stock sound.. what is the best dash kit?

Were there any big changes amongst the 2010-2011 years?
anything else I should know about 4r?

Thanks in advance.

PS
for the record, that's what I have now...

Wow I love your photography. What kind of camera are you using?

Since you won't be taking your 4Runner off road you would probably want to go with the limited edition of the 4Runner or just put performance tires on for better handling.

Welcome to T4R.ORG!!

If you're going to offroad, get the FJ, if you aren't, get the 4Runner.

FJ is offroadable from the factory vs 4R, shorter wheel base.

But has horrible blind spot & rear glass view because of the spare tire.

4Runner rides better, and more cargo room.

You will be surprised at how well the 4Runner handles.

...slight change of subject...

Stock Tacoma X-Runner can out handle a Stock G35s

Check out the 5th gen area. There is an aftermarket stereo thread and tons of info on lifting and other suspension updates.

Best handling would be either a Trail Ed with KDSS or a limited with XREAS.

What are your plans for the 4R? Off road, or otherwise?

… and welcome

thank you very much guys.

T4R00, I shoot with Nikon line up. D40, D300s, D700. Glad you like my shots. :)
you can find more on my site, if you're curious.

K.C. I am not planning on offroading the car. It will be going through some harsh(ish) winters (Illinois, after all), and I may be taking it on nature runs for the photo ops, but nothing drastic, no crawling etc.

I really do love the look of the FJ cruiser.. outside.. but inside, it isn't me. and (like you pointed out) I do not care for teh off roading ability all that much.
I doubt they would outhandle a g35s, but a standard g35, very well possible. that thing handled like a boat when I got her. :)

Ryan,
plans are to build stereo, throw an exhaust/intake, lift by around 3" front, and 2" in the back, tint it, get different set of wheels for the summer time.. i'm sure i'll have more planned for it once I read more about the car.

thank you for the welcomes, again.
