Noob needs help

I'm in the hunt for my 1st 4Runner. Want something that can hit the trails and be safe for the family too. Looking at some later 3rd Generation and early 4th Gen. 2000-2004 I guess. Looking at the Sport models, V8 or V6...lots of questions. What do you guys think? Budget it around 10k

I was pretty confused about the whole meixintian reply...oh well. Crap...I need to get work done and all I can do is look for my first 4Runner. Feel like a kid a Christmas. Wrestling with being too focused on the E-Locker and a 5speed. I am not going to be tackling the Rubicon anytime soon...but I live in Western NC and get snow and mud and rocks a good bit. Bouncing between a 3rd Gen and an early 4th Gen as well. Found 2 sweet 2000 and a 2001 Black Sport Editions...but then found a 2003 Sport Edition V8 (but has the big plastic fender flairs...not my fav.) Aghghghgh
