Noob Question

Sorry I searched the site and couldn't find an answer........

I just replaced my XREAS shocks. It was easy and the mechanic just zip stripped the XREAS lines to the frame after replacement after they drained. However now I have the following warning lights on:

-VSC TRAC
-ABS
-TRAC OFF

The Mechanic stated there must be a sensor that tripped the codes. The vehicle runs fine and there is no buzzing from the warning lights.

Is there a way to reset these? Can they be reset?

disconnect the negative battery cable for 5 minutes.

I don't recall having CEL after replacing my XREAS. From what I remember, it is a purely mechanical system and should have no impact on CEL.

That was my understanding as well, nonetheless the lights are on.

IMO, i feel the mechanic that caused these codes should be the one to fix it... at no charge.

Sounds like something is unplugged, just look around and see if something is undone.

One of the speed sensor wires probably got stretched or not plugged back in.

XREAS is a completely mechanical system with no warning lights on the dash.

When I had my check engine light, VSC TRAC and VSC OFF lights come on recently (long story as to reason), I took my T4R into my dealership to get the OBD codes read. It came back as a problem with a transmission sensor. The technician cleared the code, and all is well. All warning lights go off, and are still off. We suspect some water got into the sensor (maybe the seal is deteriorating) and the ECU was not happy with that.

For you, I would start by having your Toyota mechanic check the OBD codes to help pinpoint the (likely sensor) problem. The mechanic can try to clear the codes, and if it does not clear then the problem area/component should be identified.

Did the mechanic leave the truck on when he worked? Or is your battery going bad? There is a zero point calibration that gets lost if the voltage drops too low. Only an issue for'03-'04 if I remember correctly. Should be able to tell with a code reader.
