Hello.
I'm joining up to hopefully learn some new tricks and add the love of my 4runner to the forums.

A little background on my now owned 4runner; (hopefully soon I'll have a ton of photos posted.)

I bought my 5 speed '98 2.7L 4runner out of high school with an estimated 65k miles already racked-up. To date i've upped the mileage to near 147k. Over time and most recently i've started to add up and replace as much as possible. My main goal is to upgrade and mod but to keep the look as stock as possible. The engine is a very clean 16 valve 4 cyl 2.7l. I added a K&N cold air intake to start, changed out the stock tape deck with a Kenwood Cd/ipod deck, replaced the stock starter with a new Tacoma-model starter and replaced the stock front break with Power Stop Front Ceramic Brake Pad and Cross Drilled/Slotted Combo Rotor Brake Kit.

I have a ton of ideas I want to change or modify on my runner. Shocks and springs. Newer headers, swap out the old stock speakers. Keeping true to keeping it looking stock and original I'm looking into finding some new to slightly used front floor mates, newer and slightly larger Tacoma rims, replace the stock roof rock with a nice basket style/newer one, swap out the plastic running boards and replace them with some nice black chrome 4runner ones.

Of course with any used toyota running as hard as it does over 15+ years of road wear and tear there are some small problems. I've already fixed some minor to major ones starting with the starter, battery, breaks, connections to the battery, spark plug wires and connectors. One standing problem as of now is the power steering. I took it into the shop and learned my rack and pinion needs to be replaced. I've recently started to hear of cracks in the catalytic converters and/or exhaust systems with my model 4runner so I'm always watching out for that. I would love to update the exhaust system as well.
I can't wait to interact with the members and update my 4runner.
Thanks for reading.

Hey man, welcome to the forum.

It's been so long since I was in Ketchikan, but I remember it like it was yesterday:

- gray skies and raining most of the time
- huge salmon and all sorts of fishermen waiting until season opened the next day
- the boat ride to the airport
- etc, etc

at any rate, you will definitely benefit from the lessons to be learned here at T4R.org. I lurked nearly 2 years before jumping in and posting.

:welcome:
