Also, did a trip to Anza Borrego and Salton Sea during the week between Christmas and New Years.
Got to explore some mud wall slot canyons.
First tire down while mobbing through the desert with really low visibility due to dust.

I just read your build thread from page 1 to the end. Awesome, and you are fully enjoying your truck. Lucky are you to live near these amazing places.
I noticed you have a Gobi ladder and the same Eezi-Awn rack as me. Did you have to make some modifications to the rack position to fit the ladder? Paul from Equipt Expedition Outfitters did the install himself and I didn't see him doing it. But he told me a ladder would not fit. What is the clearance when the hatch is open?
I saw also you got rid of the Maxsa Innovation board (your sig need an update!!!). Still on the fence about what to do with mine.

I do have issues with the ladder and the roof rack. The top right side of the ladder contacts the roof rack. What I did was made a rubber bumper using a rubber stopper and a worm gear clamp. Its not that pretty but it works by softening contact between the ladder and roof rack. Its definitely not ideal but works for now. I may end up removing the ladder in the future.

Yea I also got rid of the Maxsa boards since they didn't stack very well and there was no convenient mounting/locking solution for them. I tended to not want to use them because of the hassle so decided to switch to maxtrax.

Did a quick day trip with a couple friends yesterday to Frank Raines OHV.
At some point we let our girlfriends take over since the park is relatively easy and they wanted to have some fun.
She was definitely having fun. She admitted to me that she was trying to get the back end to slide out haha.
We explored the park a bit more and on our way back down, we ran into a cool group of guys who I happen to have a mutual friend with. They had an awesome third gen 4runner and a couple of Land Rovers.
That flex!

There was also a Jeep who came by and was playing around on the tires while we were chatting.
The last area we decided to hit for the day was the mud pit.
Overall, not a bad day.

Finished installing my front facing camera today.

I am curious why use a front camera that displays on the lower dash? Is it for tight parking spots and seeing obstacles while wheeling?

Yes. Mostly useful for going over crests and remembering what was right in front of me while navigating rocks.

Our buddy had a Lower ball joint failure which basically took out the entire front end.
luckily we had spare parts and enough skill to put the rig together enough to get out to the nearest town to get towed.

yea it was, you can see the fear on my face.
jk, it wasnt so bad. Especially since its a well known water crossing that a lot of people pass through.

I see no smile there...
I might be going in Mojave next winter but for sure my wife would not allow me to cross this river with that much water. A few years ago, she wanted to get off our rental Tahoe while crossing the Fremont River toward Cathedral Valley in Capitol Reef NP. A lot less deep.
