Thanks again for organizing the meet. Nice meeting ya'll and fun trail. Just FYI, with the crappy knock sensor code, the truck went into limp mode so I just used AAA :thumb3:

Thank god for AAA! Hopefully you just change out that sensor and harness and be good to go. It's kind of a pain on 3rd gens but I bet there's some good write ups on 4th gens. Let us know what happens.

I’m fairly new at driving off-road (besides beaches years ago). I’ve got a 3” lift and 33s. No sliders. No armor. I’m thinking of hitting up Prairie City Saturday, 10/9. Anyone want to join and help spot me so I don’t wreck myself on rocks?

This seems long over due. Few pictures from our Signal Peak trip. Thank you for all of you that came out, it was a great run, with an interesting ending.
I'm the only one without a bumper, that's about to change, hopefully this weekend. My Hefty full size bumper is sitting in my runner right now.
Did some sourgrass camping recently too, [MENTION=142877]Folsom4Rnr[/MENTION] went through the rock garden all the way to the end of the trial - it actually keeps going for a bit. I did drag my plastic bumper on the way out.
I'm the only one without a bumper, that's about to change, hopefully this weekend. My Hefty full size bumper is sitting in my runner right now.

Yeah Sourgrass has a great disbursed camping site at the end of the trail (a little ways past the water crossing).

Been a few years since I’ve been to Bowman- but I recall it being a nice place. Is the bridge over the overflow spill way still “out”? Last time I was in the area the bridge was down and we had to follow the makeshift path down into the waterway.

I think it's been fixed, no weird by passes, fairly easy all the way to Sawmill. We tried to go up to the ridge, north of the lake, but there were few trees down now.
I've been wanting that bumper for a long time, now it's on, thank you.

Went to Carnegie with my son to check out what they had. Pretty small 4x4 area as it’s mostly dedicated to dirt bikes, but plenty of stuff to mess around on.

Strawberry Pass Aug. 1
Sorry for the late response; been forgetting to read the forums. Now that Strawberry Pass is likely burnt and closed again, I'll fill you in how my trip went on 8/1/2021.
I didn't have any issues. I drive a 4th gen with a 4-5 inch lift on 32s and didn't have any armor at the time. There are a couple obstacles, but it is mostly just a dirt road, some with ruts. Going up the obstacles, I had to be careful with my line. I touched my side steps a few times but didn't put enough weight on them to do any damage.
I ended up going solo, but I tend to run faster than others, so I caught up with a family of 4 rigs (FJ, 5th gen, 3rd gen, and a Sequoia). They ranged from mildly built to stock with drivers of minimal to good ability. No one had to winch, but there was some momentum and bashing to get over a few of the rocks. Its not how I drive, but nothing was damaged, so I guess it worked.
We did encounter a stock Jeep CJ7 that was hung up on the worst obstacle (closest spot to the pass). He was coming down from the pass as we were going up it. The driver chose a poor line and slipped down to high center himself. He was trying to winch set to a rock, but was just moving the winch rock. When we set the winch to one of the Toyotas, he freed up but then got stuck again. Winches are good; he winched off the second time and was clear. I turned on my radio and we got to the same channel so if he ran into further problems, he could let me know and I was going to turn back and help. He never called, so I'm guessing he chose better lines.
After we all got over that last obstacle, we drove to the pass and stopped for lunch.

Lunch with a view to the south. If you know where to look, you can see the straight line of Hwy 88 coming down the exposed pass and the western edge of Kirkwood Valley.
I hiked down the motorcycle trail a little and really enjoyed the view everywhere.

I think I read on NorCal 4x4 that it has been fixed. Wonder if it's even accessible with the snow coming down.

Been off the boards for some time, but lurking from time to time. Still wheeling the rig. Just got back from Utah and already thinking of doing another trip or working from there.
