Thanks for the update. Was just looking at the bear valley snow gauge and the gauge is covered :spy:

more reason to head down toward arnold I suppose.

I'm going to one of those amatuer radio cram classes this weekend or else I'd join. I've been wanting to check out sour grass for some time.

I might be a little more free on 4/20...

It will be a good day. Doesn't look like too many are going, but that does not mean the trail will be empty. This will be a good start to the season.
 
OK, so I FINALLY got my act together enough to get online and respond. Im in! Looking forward to getting on the trail and getting season started!

If I interpret correctly... looks like an approximately 9:00AM meet up at the Arnold Kwik Serv??? Ill be coming from Folsom/EDH, so Ill plan to meet up in Arnold.

This coming Saturday, the plan is to meet up and run Sourgrass Trail and afterwards, stop at The Lube Rom for lunch and refreshments. This place has great burgers, fries, onion rings as well as other things.

The plan is to head from SAC and exit at Howe / Power Inn and get onto Hwy 16 heading East. First spot to meet would be at the intersection of Florin Perkins & Jackson Hwy across from Green Acres Nursery at 7:00 am. Meet Up #1. From there, we will continue to head east to Hwy 49 South at 7:15 am. I understand there is someone coming from the Mather area, so the next planned meet would be at Sunrise and Jackson Hwy and hope to be on the road from there by 7:25 am. Drive time to next meet-up and gas is approx 1:40 hrs. to the Kwik Serv in Arnold Meet & Gas. From here, we will head to the trail to air down and have fun which is about 25 minutes.
The Trail Head is at Sourgrass Day use. Trail should be about 2 or so hours in and out. From there, we will air up and hit the Lube Room and then roll back down the hill.

This trail is not the most difficult, but being wet and some rocky sections, I would advise 33" tires and some armor, but there have been some stock rigs to get through most of it. This time of year, there is a stream crossing with a descent water flow.

I have HAM for comms and plan to run 146.460. There is no cell service on this trail.

Look who finally decided to show up! Yes, 9:00 am at the Kwik Serv in Arnold is the plan.

Got some UCA bushing to do, and moms car, borrowed it when I did the bearings.

Tried poker flat today...Snow was annoying and we didn't want to work all day digging out nonstop. Even a SAS'd dual locked dual transfer case buddy with me didn't make much difference. Snow can SUCK! And winches are amazing.

Try that one again in July maybe. Gorgeous area up there holy moly.

Just because it's 75 degrees down in the cities, doesn't mean winter has cleared out in the mountains just yet.
