Wentworth Springs soon, if anyone's interested
I'm just waiting for the right conditions, which should be soon, to go visit the original western start of the Rubicon, running up to Wentworth Springs and then coming out at Loon Lake.
There's a couple weeks a year during the snowmelt when the roadbed is filled with water for a mile or more, but the bottom is solid thanks to Rubi volunteers laying down gravel, so it's like swamp boating. Rear diff. breather mod recommended, lol, but nothing really sketchy until a small boulder field just west of the Springs. I have not done this entire loop, only portions on both ends, so buyer beware.
It's a long drive on pavement to get there, though, maybe 45 minutes past Uncle Toms, and I may get there only to find the road still snowbound. It will still be a nice day, and there are other attractions.

Thanks crazy man. I'm way new to this "mountain wheeling" stuff mostly because I'm so surburbanized. Another great reason to get out and get some perspective.
So when is a good time to go and enjoy some of these over-snowed areas? Is the clear/dry window only like July-August and then that's it? I guess it depends on how harsh of a winter?

I ran up to Uncle Tom's Cabin area today to scout it out. The road has a couple feet of snow a couple miles east of there which turned around some jeeper with 35"ers yesterday.
I'm thinking its gonna be about another 3 weeks before we can get to the trailhead. Although I don't mess around with snow, because I'm always running solo, and I'm sick of digging out. Here's a pic of French Meadows, today:

I’m heading up to MET tomorrow to take advantage of the fresh snow and test out the 4Runner. Would be cool to meet up with other T4R people.
I want to find someone who is savy with making the mods to my non locker housing so I can install the elocker third that I have.

First you need the elocker gasket for a template.
It will show where you need to drill and tap the bolts, and grind the housing to fit.

I’ve been going Memorial weekend for the past 5 years
It gets pretty busy on sat some people Sunday
But all day guys
Not very many people camp there
And where we camp we only see a few people here and there since it’s a dead end
Snow definitely. A few taco guys went today gonna ask them how it was

We usually camp near the creek at the dead end spots.
And then just wheel from sun up to sun down. So we are all over the place
HMU and I can give you a pin point or at least a rough idea where we are heading.
