Nor Cal Wheeling, Camping and BS - 2019

Lol here I am, still lurkin' on my home region thread. The 4runner following up here is dead. I can count on my two hands the amount of built runners in my city. Tacomas and 1 ton pick ups of any kind get much more love out here.... I see a F350 in my future...

There is a group from Overland Bound Nor Cal members heading for a overnight trip to Frank Raines next week Nov 15 - 17.

I will probably just join for the day runs on the 16th.

How is frank Raines ?
Never been there but have been wanting to check it out.
 
Strawberry pass was awesome. Had quite a few clenching moments but worth it to cross it off the list.

Did strawberry last weekend. Jeep club did it weekend before last. No signs anywhere disputing it's open.... I don't know Brian, I say GO FOR IT. It's a great trail. But I get it if you're worried about it being closed.


Edit. Read the actual roads it lists. Only a tiny bit of them are to get to the strawberry pass trail. 17e73 from what I'm gathering. Here's a side by side of the route we just took (the right side of the loop portion is the actual offroad trail, the left side is the main road)

Meet at ticketing entrance area to Hollister Hills at 10:00am

OPTION 3: 10:15-10:30am
at the entrance gate into the the off-road park area where we will sit down, approximately 1.2 miles further down the road from the ticketing area. It is a 3 Minute drive from the ticketing entrance.

Last night I talked to the Trailmaster for the club that adopted Strawberry Trail and he's been in contact with his NFS Ranger contact about Strawberry all week. Yes people are running it, but technically the trail is a part of the closure so it's closed till it's officially opened (which means if NFS ranger :police: wanted to they could penalize you as per the closure notice). They don't gate or post signs on all closures... they couldn't possibly cover the whole forest that way ... so people are supposed to check the official website or with the local ranger. I for one want to respect the process and not give those that want to close public lands permanently any more ammo to support their case.

Dang. Ok fair enough. I was unaware of the process. Sucks that if its not the hippies trying to close down lands, fire danger does. Thanks for the info
