North East Texas?

If there is any interest, I may lead an outing or two into Kiamichi Country, including the Clayton trail, Kiamichi Trail, and several others in the same area.
Currently, I am in the planning stages of a trans Oklahoma Overland trip for the gang over on ExPo, but I would like to make it back to the southeast part of Oklahoma from time to time... its just such a pretty place... that not too many folks know about.
If any of you guys are interested, please send me a PM. If I get enough interest, I can start a trip thread over here so we can assemble and discuss logistics before the trip...

I ran the Clayton Trail and the Kiamichi Trail this weekend. My apologies to those that sent me PMs that I did not respond to in time to meet up... I know... I suck.
But, without futher adieu, the pics...
There was a bit of tree clearing required from time to time...
Spring has sprung up there, so the beautiful views so easy to come by in the winter months are few and far between...
While I was clearing, I stopped to take a pic. This area is in between the two most technical parts of the Clayton Trail.
The bus... still wondering how somebody ever got that thing up there... hmm... maybe Chevy Chase was driving....
I think I missed the best sunrise pics, but at least I got the coffee going... I don't harbor any desires to become a photographer anyways...
A bit of fog burning off in the valleys...
Camp sweet camp... I travel light when The_Mrs. is not with me...
Another clear cut area. My guess around 6 to 10 years ago... and the fire tower in the distance.

There were plenty of photo ops east of there, but I was already behind schedule to scout out an area near Honobia. Once the trail opened up, I increased speed and headed for the highway... on to another area... which turned out to be a disappointment. :dammit:
This area is around a 3 hour drive from DFW. It begins off of Nine Pine Rd. near Clayton Lake State Park. Use caution when in the area. Not all the locals up there are friendly. I have also heard stories of drug related activities in those hills... not the kind of thing you want to stumble onto... so stick to the trail, and do not enter private property. Remember to Tread Lightly. As always, if anyone has any questions, please post or send me a PM and I will try to get back with you as soon as I can.
Lets keep this thread growing, guys! The more responsible people that know about these areas, the more power we have to fight the relentless trail closures. I saw plenty of gates while I was out there this time. There are more trail closures every time I go out... soon there will be nothing left.
