Nose Dive While Braking

I'm one of those that is bothered by the dive and no I do not drive it like it's a sport vehicle. So the general consensus is that brake dive is inevitable with any large truck or SUV? I'm just going to call it and say...that's a big NO.

My F150 never did it - 6500 lbs GVW / a smidge above the Gen5 4Runner
My 77 Scout does not do it..she weighs around 4200 lbs (rear drums)
My Touareg did not do it - 6550 lbs slightly edging out 4runner in GVW
My friends Tundra does not do it (2nd Gen) - 7200 lbs
My Girlfriends Tundra does not do it (1st Gen) - 6600 lbs
Both of my friends Gen4 4Runners do it - 5,300 to 6,000 lbs

Hell, my buddies F250 Powerstroke doesn't do it and she's a heavy beast at over 8k lbs

Stop and go traffic will have you looking at sky and asphalt in short order.

At some point those who feel the dive is too much will make other sacrifices to help alleviate it..and others will learn to cope.

Still, to defend it as normal by saying that every other large vehicle does it is just outright :blah:
 
Real SUV's do it. Including: Tahoe, Surburban, 4Runner, Xterra, Pathfinder, Armada, and so on.

F150, Tundra will not do it because all the weight is already on the front where the tail is light. So it won't go down that much more. They also have much stiffer springs.

Touareg is a CUV, it is not built on a truck platform. CUVs don't do it mostly because the engine itself is behind the front axles to help evenly distribute the weight.

Did you not test drive? And you still bought it?
 
Of course I test drove..but who really test drives in rush hour traffic? It's not make or break but the point is still valid. If you make the excuse that *all heavy vehicles do this well that's just misinformation because they do not. That's my point.

It's not the mass. It's a simple function of weight transfer and resistance to that transfer caused by deceleration. Buy some decent tires with decent sidewalls. Makes a world of difference.
