Currently 2021 production through July is 81592. 2021 is on track to be one of the highest production years in the history of the 5th gen. I wonder if this will affect the rest of the 2021 production also.

40% reduction is a lot.
There will be a lot of layoffs and probably any other car company would go into bankruptcy with a reduction like that.

I used to live near the Georgetown plant, and they have paid employees through all of the shutdowns. I believe the second COVID shutdown they paid 4 out of 5 days off, but still paid.

I would think US factories will be the hardest hit, based on the supply changes Toyota made after the tsunami.

I just took delivery on Wednesday (8/19) of my new RAV4 Hybrid, built at Georgetown. I ordered it back in May. Ordering is the only way to get a new Toyota these days; there are zero new cars available in my area now due to all the problems. What is being built is already sold. I feel fortunate that I was able to get the RAV4 Hybrid now. Due to this production slow down, they will be even more difficult to get in the future.

I ordered a 2021 Tacoma back in February. My dealer told me it would arrive late September. I messaged him yesterday asking if it was built or we be built. Hoping this doesn't affect me.

Couple of weeks ago I replied on another thread that some of the local dealers had some in stock. I was at my dealer the other day getting my state inspection done and they had 0 on the lot. In fact, their lot was almost completely empty of anything new. Very weird to see. I also feel fortunate that I got my hands on my truck when I did. I certainly hope the workers in the plants come through relatively unscathed.

Oof! That's a long time. I was told "about 3 months" for my '22 4R TRDP I ordered August 6th, but I'm very skeptical of that estimate. We'll see.

I "ordered" a Tacoma Pro MT in Lunar Rock. So a relatively "rare" build. My dealer isn't big volume either. I didn't receive and allocation until late June. I knew I was in for a long ride but figured 6 months tops. If all goes well it will be 7 months. Or perhaps never. Ha.

Great build! That is worth the wait - I wish the 4runner had a manual.

one of the research analyst for toyota that i follow stated that production is being hampered by supply issues from other countries like vietnam, malaysia and philippines - they make wiring harnesses, seats as well as a number of other components for a finished vehicle. tahara plant is also one of the affected facilities which makes the 4runner so yes, there will be a drop in 4r inventory.

ford also revised their guidance back in july that they will make 150k less f150 trucks - their total production drop is approx 700k for the rest of the year.

if you are looking to buy a new vehicle - buy asap. if you are looking to sell - hold til 2022, there is probably a few more rounds of production cuts coming.
