Not Happy With CH4x4 Switch, Should Have Gone with AOB

I am running 5 AOB switches and I have zip ties holding the bodies of all of them tight. 2 switches were not locking in place which after some messing with them led me to zip tie them, 1 switch indicator LED has gone out and one will not hold the wire harness in to lock.

To sum it up I feel like I got screwed at $28 per switch but pretty limited on OEM looking options.

Just means they are out. Check back every few days and they will be back, happens pretty often.

Good advice above, also if you email them they will usually give you a time frame on when to expect them back in stock. Funny how them going out of stock usually coincides with accessory group buys or other mods numerous members are doing at once (backup camera mod...etc).

Installed my rear camera dongle today and thought I would save $8 by using the cheaper CH4x4 Toyota Small Push Series switch instead of paying $28 for an AOB Switch.

The switch looks very similar to the stock ones, but when you mount the switch in your trim panel until the clips grab, the travel of the switch gets blocked and push button no longer operates. I ended up having to wrap electrical tape around the housing and pressure fit the switch into the mounting hole and leave some of the housing sticking out. It seems to work as long as I don't push too hard, but the switch sticks out more than the others and looks odd.

I will call CH4x4 tomorrow to see if they are aware of this issue.

Did you ever call them or fix the issue?

Personally I have not found the quality of the AOB to be all that impressive. I have one that doesn't light up when activated, another that sticks, the other two are ok but occasionally stick as well.

Mine died after a month. Had the light bar on for an hour up on rampart range road and smelled a faint electrical smell. Went to turn it off, it wouldn't go off and finally got it off only to not turn back on again.

Need a new switch now.

If you guys are having issues with your AOB switches, contact them. They have very good customer support. I had an issue with one of mine not lighting when on and they sent me a new one right away.

Need a new switch now.

The CH4x4 switch will still work. Just wrap electrical tape around the body of the switch and don't push it all the way in (see picture in original post).

Have to say these CH4X4 switches are are the biggest piece of crap. I bought the fog light, GPS (for nav bypass), and Rear Camera (rear cam on/off). None, I repeat none of these stay depressed. If you hold the switch body from behind they will hold. Took 2 apart and tried trimmed but they still won't depress all the way. For reference I installed all three on the left dash panel blanks. I am guessing they did not leave enough room from to travel from the switch head to the panel of our vehicles. They work fine with not installed.

Going to have to find some nondescript switches to mount instead. Going to call CH4x4 Monday and unload. Hate when I plan to tear the the interior apart and this stuff doesn't work. Fuming...

Are the AOB any better? I am reading where peeps are having to tape together their AOB switch. Concerned as AOB and Slee look like the same crappy manufacturer. Looks like these companies are buying the same switch and putting into their packaging.

Think I am not going to do the NAV or camera mod as I don't want switches that look out of place on the new ride. Going to have to figure something out for the fog.

AOB mostly work but some don't, that is the best that can be said based on my experience. They are the best option available...

AOB is significantly better than CH4x4. No issues with mine whatsoever and its nearly identical to the other OEM switches.

I have to agree, the AOB's are the best out there currently.
Sure you could get a bad one, and if you do, send them an email and they will take care of you.
They look more like they belong next to your OEM ones than others I've seen!
