We got to take a nice break from a very busy spring this weekend. We didn't do any crazy-wheeling, but it was great to be up in the hills to relax.
We took a lunch and the dog and explored some new-to-us trails and roads. Only met one dead end road, but the little mud hole was big enough to turn around in, so no reversing up the hill was needed.
We haven't been out since last year, so we were reminded of all the things we forgot to bring, to be prepared.
Anyway just wanted to share some nice pics for anyone who couldn't get out there.

Wish I had more time to go out and explore roads like that, I love doing it. Too bad they are decommissioning half the roads around here :redbrick:

Here they gate off a lot of roads until it is dry-ish. Usually May1st for roads like where we were, and probably 1 more week for some others that were still closed. We do also have our share of nice trails and roads being closed off. I really think it is so that you can no longer camp in the mountains for free,
They seem to be hearding folks into the "Pay-per night" campgrounds.
The access has shrunken dramatically in the past 20 years. Places I would drive to and camp are now totally blocked off.
Bummer.

Good stuff, MTT! I love simple exploring, turning off on some unknown beat-up road just to see where it goes. I don't have to use 4-LO to be having fun!
