Nothing on the rear hatch works

Almost nothing on the rear door of my 2003 works. The window does not go down, the rear defrost does not work, the rear wiper does not work, and the rear windshield washer fluid pump does not work.

I think the only two things that do work back there are the high-mounted brake light, and the automatic door lock.

Any suggestions on where I should start my search?

Also, is the rear windshield washer fluid pump inside the front windshield washer fluid reservoir?

sounds like an electrical problem. fuses are easiest to check...
manuals are stickied at the top of the forum, if you're fuses are good start troubleshooting your electrical system to the tailgate.

agreed. hold rear window button up for two seconds, if that doesnt work, disconnect battery and reconnect then hold window button. ECU just needs to wake up

Thanks guys. I held the rear window button down for 2 seconds, and all of a sudden I heard an electronic switch making a noise in the rear door, and then my rear wiper worked, the rear washer fluid pump worked, and the rear defrost came back to life. I don't understand it...not at all...but hey, it worked!!!

The rear window still won't go down, but the previous owner told me it hasn't worked for a while. When I raise and lower the rear door I can hear a piece of plastic rattling around inside the door, so I'll have to remove the interior plastic door skin next summer and see what's going in there.

Glad to hear you got it fixed. Mine done the same thing when on vacation, but was stuck down and it started pouring rain is how I found out it wasn't working. But the t4r forum helped me after about a hour of checking fuses and relays.
