Rear hatch not working

Sitting on 310,000 miles - went to go open my hatch and nothing. The rear window still rolls down from the dash. I installed an interior door switch and window switch about 4 years ago. The door switch doesn’t work there either.

Curious if anyone has ever encountered this?

I forgot to check to see if the diy window switch rocker works.

It's probably frozen, lots of threads on this. Generally need to move that manual lever under the small door and push it open with your legs from the inside. BTW, I've had a cheap Amazon latch in my truck for a couple years now with no issues.

Do you think that would that be the case if the tailgate button isn’t doing anything? Nor the inside button? I’ve had it get errored out and removing the fuse always resolves it but that usually happens when it’s in the process of opening or closing and gets caught in the middle. The door is fully closed currently.

I had an issue with the switch that you press with the same symptoms you're describing a few years ago. Turns out water and corrosion messed with the plug on the switch causing it to not complete the circuit that actuates the latch. I ended up cleaning everything and re-assembling it and it worked.

Perhaps its not the actuator itself, but the switch. If one part of the circuit isn't working, the whole system won't work. I'd check there!

Seeing I just realized you're in Arizona, maybe not but you'll still need access behind the big plastic cover to check things. That manual release behind the small plastic cover should tell you if the latch is still free as it will open easily when moved.

Before you go tearing things apart there is a trick with these. Basically the motor detects too much resistance and locks itself out sometimes. If that is the case you can unplug the battery and let it sit and replug it to reset the motor. Obviously replace the motor once open or it will happen again.

Did you get it working or figure out the issue? I had it happen to me and had to disconnect the battery, then basically do a reset which was something like lock and unlock the doors 3 times and hold down on the last? I’ll have to look back to see what the trick was if you’re still having trouble?

Because of my drawer system in the back I could not get to the plastic cover to release the latch manually. I had to dis assemble my drawers by pieces and take them out through the rear window. Pretty much sucked. NOW I have an extension wire on the manual release lever routed outside through the license plate hardware hole ( my license plate is on the swing out for gas and water containers) Are we having fun yet?

That does not sounds like fun at all. I had trouble getting mine back together and I wondered why they made it so complicated to manually override.

Happened to mine 3 days after I bought. Went to go open my hatch and nothing. Replaced the latch, nothing. Replaced the tailgate switch, nothing. Something told me to check for codes with my snapon scanner, found a code for the tailgate module. Cleared the code, hatch works again lol.
