Got the tires on this morning, then found out that I was MISSING a brake pad. Just got back from my buddy's shop after installing the lift and getting new brakes. It's good to be able to pay your mechanic with beer.


4Runner V 2.0

I'll post again after I put some miles on it, but it seems to handle just as well as before. Can't wait to change my oil without putting it up on ramps!

Changed the oil, checked the torque, then out for work:

I'm averaging approximately 21.5 mpg highway and 19 in the "city", exactly as I expected. There is a negligible difference in ride quality; it's a bit stiffer but i don't think I can really feel it or just notice it because its expected. The tires are slightly louder on the interstate, but nowhere near being a problem. The lift provides enough clearance, I just wanted the 3" extra.

Overall, I'm extremely happy. I've put them on dirt and gravel roads (they're rock magnets), grass fields, thick leaves, and light mud trails. They perform just as well as expected, if not better.

Finished with the grille mod. Thanks Mytoy4 for the writeup, it was a great reference.

-I used 22 gauge galvanized steel (circle pattern - see the very top of the webpage haha), and mounted it onto the metal hood support with fourteen #6 stainless sheetmetal screws and lock nuts (it's not goin anywhere).

Gonna attempt to do the lower grille this weekend... and probably another 2 coats of enamel since i scratched the heck out of the inside while mounting it - better pictures to come.

Im looking for a three inch lift and with so many damn choices I cant decide. Coils here shocks there suspension everywhere. lol. I imagine your going to by two pairs of those coils for use with 5100's?

Yep, spot on. I just cant decide if I'll do FJ front springs, or just replace for the stock ones. Don't really need more height there, but I do want the rear to go up. The 5100's seem to be the best choice for those with my mindset: extra clearance without the "jacked up" look.

How was the install on the bluetooth receiver? Can you post a picture of the installed unit?

Got it from crutchfield. They include all the mounting hardware, wiring harness, and diagrams and instructions. Best way to do it, especially when its marked down to $120. It includes a mic.

Where did you install the mic?

On the left pillar above the grab handle, just below the roof. Works perfectly since my head hits the ceiling anyway

For the past few weeks, I have been flying through this forum and flip-flopping between plans for future modifications. I came to the conclusion that this method (or lack thereof) could only end badly for me in terms of cost and part compatibility. However, after this last week (cracked brake caliper) I've decided to stop running around like a headless chicken and develop a methodology for future 4runner mods.

For Harder: Total chaos Long Travel

For Faster: Remove the Silver Bullet. Unless you are for some reason running a carby engine, it will do nothing. Just look up Throttle body spacer dyno chart on Google.

Yeah, let me know when there's a 90% off sale for that long travel! I don't think i'd go for that even if I had the cash though. I'm opting for the fj springs even though I could afford Icon coilovers; it's just too much for me... I'm going for maximum suspension durability, while trying to keep it looking somewhat stock. That's why I have so much under the "Harder" category.

Get AFE intake, no spacer. Also URD will be producing the spec U system soon so forget that magnaflow muffler n put somenreal balls on that truck...

Holy horsepower batman, thanks for the input guys! Though that will have to wait until after the fj's, uca's and brake lines coming up. What would you suggest for exhaust after the urd headers?

Once he finishes making the exhaust system u will c.. regardless the spec U system is the complete exhaust... Headers, y pipe, and catback.
